I have horrible horrible Bs in Physics B and in U.S. history (ap). do I still have a chance at Penn? oo Is there still hope? Will i prove myself by getting 5's on both tests in May? because my school is well aware of grade inflation, so our teachers hardly give out A's. Oo

ps. I'm a junior with the toughest courseload at my school. Let's pretend I (will) have good SAT's, EC's, and recs.

it wont kill you, I had C's or C+'s in english sohp and jr. year and I got in...a 5 on ap will help. dont kill yourself over a b, especially if the rest of grades are good

im not killing myself over one B. its TWO B's. I just think it wouldn't be typical for a penn acceptee and therefore i would have a big disadvantage come admission time T__T

I have four b's.. and I am applying with no worries at all.. schools don't look for perfect grades from kids.. they want kids that are actually interesting! not boring kids who just sit in their dorms all day fretting over B's

what gives you the right to tear down this poster...is that really necessary?
your first post was judged as sarcastic and cynical by me (which is okay and fine), but your last one is just poor judgement on your part (your sarcasm and cynicism were truly absent).
answer the damn question or dont post. personal attacks are really not needed unless he or she warrants them. especially looking on past threads (pre-college acceptance ones), you have acted the same way as the OP.

to the OP. you are fine. do the best you can. yes great ap scores can mitigate the b's but overall dont worry, my friend was admitted with 4.

i think anyone who complains about not being entirely perfect is just a snot. So I think that his rudeness was warranted. People make mistakes, it happens. There are kids that get straight C's becuase they just can't understand a subject. So all these kids then complain because they missed one question on the SAT or got cheated out of an A in the hardest class in their high school, are really just spitting in the face of the students that are just average. You should be thanking your lucky stars to have such high grades. Get over yourself, stop freaking out about admissions, and live your life in a way that you are actually happy and stop freaking out so much.
I started reading these posts a week ago and all I see is a bunch of perfect kids COMPLAINING!

My freshmen year is full of Bs only because of me transferring schools from Australia, and there was no real grade transferring standard, so I live with them.

The only thing that a B can really affect is your rank, which might be the problem in this case.

Penn, however, swears to look at your application holistically, even citing that grades can out weight crap SATs (which I have xD)
So don't try to worry much if your GPA is over a 3.6.

is it such a problem to want to be the very best?

i was making a point about eloquence "complaining" about past things in his previous threads and yet was treated kindly. not personally attacked like he has done.

pahka, i will never count my lucky stars regarding my grades and achievements. my grades are not "lucky". they are earned through hard work and perseverance. thats like saying to EVERY american who have lost their jobs in the recent economic downturn "hey count your lucky stars. you have it better than the average person in the world! quit complaining! some people are homeless!"

Nope, but if one is the very best, or even close, then I'm sure the concept of a B wouldn't seem as radically displeasing as it is to the OP. Even so, OP should have probably known better than to make his thread as whiny because guess what, they're 2 freaking B's.
