<p>You will not need to take a foreign language class. You can just test out of it by taking a test. In order to transfer you will need to take two English classes (one composition the other a critical thinking course). As for the second question, the community college will probably want you to take their placement test for English and will then place you into the right course suited for your English level.</p>

But My high school grade is very very low , especially for the Chinese course which is below C…So If i send my high school transcript to the uc’s , will it hurt my chance to transfer???</p>
<p>I’m a little confused… if you’re trying to “transfer” that would be you are trying to get in as a junior, not a freshman. If you are straight out of high school then you would be applying as a freshman – not transferring. I have no clue as to what the acceptance rate is for international students wanting to apply as freshman. I would think not too good. If you’re trying to transfer “meaning you’ve been to a 2 year college” then I’m sure you’re going to have just as hard a time trying to gain acceptance by not going to a CCC. Anyone can feel free to correct me if I’m wrong as I’m not aware of the international acceptance/produre stuff… etc…</p>

<p>No, your high school transcript will not make a difference! They will only look at your college transcripts! They don’t care any longer about your high school GPA – only college.</p>
<p>Yes…I know high school GPA is not important …But there is a LOTE section in myBerkeley app , at the bottom of this section there is a box i should check which says “I completed 3 years of the same foreign language in high school with letter grades of C or higher for each semester”

<p>I see what you’re saying… Is there any other option for foreign language. The reason why it’s asking you about a foreign language is because all UC’s require either a year at a community college or 2-3 years at a high school. Considering you speak 2 languages, you’re completely excused from that requirement – if you were in the United States you could just take a test. See if there is any other indication that asks about your knowledge of an additional language. If not, I’d just put down that you do… If someone else reads this do you have any other suggestions??? I’m just not too familiar with your situation considering you’re an international student and not from a CCC. But, if I were you I’d just put that you did…</p>
<p>Dude, you are bilingual and 100% covered in the language area! UC’s will not look at your “Chinese” grades in high school to determine if you can speak Mandarin/Catonese. This would be like looking at my “English” grades from high school to determine if I speak English. </p>
<p>Bottom line, you should not worry. Just contact the UC’s you are applying to and ask how you should indicate your bilingual attributes on the updates/apps.</p>
