Upenn
UChicago
Swarthmore

I'm afraid i have wayyy too many reaches..and i can't seem to narrow down my schools either. Also considering: Duke, Johns Hopkins, George Washington

get more safeties.

but which ones??

get rid of one of the ivy leagues and put GW in there and then UMCP, case, and GW are saftey enuf for u

bump please

Might try Bucknell or Holy Cross. Holy Cross is a Jesuit school like Gtown and has good academics, but is easier to get into. Also might get better financial aid at HC.

list looks fine to me.

list looks fine? wow, never gotten that response before.. i certainly hope it's true :)

I think its fine too, if you can count on UMD as a safety.

can anyone make predictions for me? i'm really very surprised you guys said the list is fine, since i expect to be waitlisted or rejected from a large majority of my colleges (or maybe i'm just really insecure)

here's an updated list (deleted some, added some), ED is now between brown and dartmouth:

UMD College Park

Case Western

Brown (possible ED)

Dartmouth (possible ED)

Rice

Stanford

Princeton

Upenn

UChicago

Swarthmore

Williams

UMD College Park 98%

Case Western 70-85%

Brown (possible ED) 40-60%

Dartmouth (possible ED) 40-65%

Rice 50-60%

Stanford 15-35%

Princeton 10-25%

Upenn 40-60%

UChicago 60-75%

Swarthmore 35-60%

Williams 35-60%

holy crap i have that much of a chance at brown? ponders early decision change

As I'm sure you know 9 of your 11 schools can go either way so I'd work from the other end...be sure of your safeties and matches. The odds are you'll get into at least one (probably more) of your 9 reaches, but I'd add a couple at least that are top schools just not as hard to get into, like Michigan, Vanderbilt, maybe Rochester, Brandeis, Emory, Wake Forest.

For your chances at the schools on your list you might use their overall acceptance rates as a guide, since I think you are typical of someone who applies to these schools, and I don't see any hook (sports, leadership, etc). So I'd predict 15-20 % chance for Brown or Dartmouth, maybe 25-30% ED.

UMD College Park- Accepted
Dartmouth- Rejected
Brown (possible ED)- Rejected
Case Western-Accepted
Rice- Accepted
Georgetown-Accepted
Stanford (EA?)- Rejected
Princeton (ED?)- Rejected
Harvard- Rejected
Upenn- Accepted
UChicago- Accepted
Swarthmore- Accepted
Duke- Rejected
Johns Hopkins- Accepted
George Washington- Accepted

I said it looks fine because your stats are comparable to a lot of others that apply to top schools. Im not saying you will get into all of those schools, but maybe half to 2/3 which is really good considering the schools on your list.
