Hey Guys. My G.P.A is A 3.885 and i have taken about 6 Ap Courses and done relatively well in high school i'm in the top 7% of my class yet i haven't had any colleges email me or send me anything in the mail. Dozens of my friends have received countless colleges brochures and fee waiver from colleges and emails and they're all below me as far as gpa and class rank goes. Im pretty worried. why haven't i gotten anything?

What standardized tests have you taken, and did you opt out of any email/U.S. mail choices when you signed up for and/or took the tests? I think that’s where most schools get information for their mailing lists.

I took the sat in October but yeah I think that’s it. Could that be why?

You took the SAT this October, as in two weeks ago, and that’s the only standardized test that you’ve taken so far? What grade are you in? Did you take the PSAT?

Yeah two weeks ago I’m a senior and I didn’t take the psat

There you go.

Yes, no worries. If you want to get on a specific college mailing list, most of them have a way on their website to sign up for information. You will get mail and emails both. It is also a way to show interest in a college (if they care about it, not all of them do).

Good job on the academics, by the way. :)

As others said, you just aren’t on any lists yet. Once your scores are processed, you’ll start getting info from schools. Have you gone to any college fairs? Doing that will result in a mountain of mail. If you sign-up for a website like Cappex, you’ll get emails and letters/catalogs from schools you show interest in.

let’s trade

****in Abilene Christian University is like a harassment factory

Also you should have requested info for any college you were interested in and any college you plan on applying to. The button to request info is on a college’s admissions website. You could have also requested information at local college fairs. Do college reps come to your high school to give presentations? Most colleges are also having admission presentations in larger cities across the country. You can find their schedule on the college’s admission website by looking at listings such as “x college in your area” or “xcollege comes to you.”

It is important that you not be an “stealth” applicant. Take the time to at least request information.

Shazzy,
Colleges aren’t invitation only. It is your duty to apply to them, not to wait for them to come to you.

They aren’t following up on every student in the country looking for students and contacting them. Most send out mass mailings to every student who scores above a specific level on the PSAT, SAT or ACT. Most of the mailings your students get are impersonal, even if someone mailmerged their name onto the letter.

you are lucky…why would you want the junk mail?
