i haven't started looking at colleges yet...

As a junior, I know that I still have a while to dive into the college search process, but I feel as if i’m late to the party. Almost all of my friends have an idea about where they want to apply, etc, for college, but I haven’t begun the search yet.

I know I want to major in Psychology and go into Psychiatry (which means med school), but I don’t know where to look.

How do you start the college search process?

I’ve visited Vassar, Boston University, Northeastern, Wellesley(my sister goes here), Boston College, UMD College Park, Cornell, Brandeis, Babson, and Bentley U for my brother’s college trip (he knows where he wants to go), but none of these places appeal to me.

My sister goes to Wellesley (expensive), and my brother and I will go to college the same year, so there might be a heavy financial issue here. My parents are well off. I just thought I might put this here…

I have a ~~3.56 uw gpa, 4.05 w gpa
first SAT: 1940 total. writing 770, math 600, reading 570(?)
second SAT: 1900 total. writing 660 (I don’t know why I did so badly the second time around), math 610, reading 630.
SSL hours: 495.
APs: 10 AP classes including senior year’s projected schedule.
AP tests: AP NSL , score: 3 (sad I know)
extracurriculars: varsity cheerleading since sopho year, teach dance classes to children (sounds kinda dumb but I love it)

where did y’all start with your college search process?? im so lost…

HELP

Did your visits help you decide on the kind of school you’d like to attend?
Big or small? Urban or rural? Close to home or farther away? Big sports and Greek scene?

If you have no strong preferences, then you might want to start with your in-state public schools. They are relatively affordable (if aid is not in the picture). In many states, your grades and scores should be good enough to qualify for the state flagship.

At least you have visited a wide variety already-that qualifies as looking in my book! If anything visiting all of these colleges should give you an idea of what you want-even if you have not found it yet. Don’t give up- the perfect college for you is out there. :>
