I hear that...

I concur with bluedog, we don’t find out until after the applicants. I mean seriously, what would be the point? So that we can show up at your door with confetti, balloons, and a cake?

WilliamAndMary - to your original post - absolutely not true. I’ve been an interviewer for many years and I can tell you that we do get results of our interviewees, but not until after they’ve been notified.

My interviewer confirmed that they get the results a day earlier (TODAY!), but are not allowed to contact you until after 6PM EST the day of.

Highly doubtful, unless you’ve talked to them to confirm. But I will say that it’s never happened to me before.

I should have posted this earlier, but my presence was needed elsewhere on campus! Your favorite caped crusader is here to shirk the question and present you with a thought provoking situation:

Imagine that your interviewer did indeed have your results. Would you really want to know them? Say you are declined admission, you will have to live through the experience of checking for that less than favorable result twice (assuming you still check online)!

Now, imagine you are accepted to glorious, glorious Duke! Would you rather hear from your interviewer or have the intense of moment of opening a note on your computer with all those pent up emotions just to know that your next for years will be spent in Eden? The Blue Devil loves passion. That’s my job, to evoke passion and pride in the students in order to push the tired body of our athletes to the extremes of their potential, thereby launching huge prayers that seal the Maui Invitational Title! (well, that among other things)

But let’s go with the realistic situation, if your interviewer knows, they won’t tell you. Thus, you will likely be all the more anxious. If your interviewer doesn’t know, then they will tell you so, and you will forget about it within the hour.

Only a few more hours, all you tiny Blue Devils! Be strong, have faith, stay calm, and keep smiling. Below, I’ve posted two of my favorite videos for moments like these. Watching these may not help everyone, but hopefully there will be one or two of you reading this that understand what I’m trying to do here.

I literally want to go cry in a corner…

Hello,

I’ve interviewed 20 candidates a year for 15 years and this has never once happened. As an interviewer, I get results AFTER they are sent in the mail–usually a few days after results are posted online. DS
