i heard its easier to get in if you apply as undecided?

is that true? and if so how hard is it to tranfer to the business school after being there as an undecided?

It's definitely easier to get in as undecided rather than business, but I don't know much about how you end up deciding on a major.

My daughter is a sophmore at PSU. She applied undecided as a major. After one year she declared CSD (speech therapy) as a major. It was no problem. But business is definitley not as easy to declare. Its a controlled major, and I believe you have to wait until after your second year and then you also need a certain GPA. I would call the school. The business program is very competitive. I know when we went to her orientation, there were kids there that had requested business, but were placed undecided because they did'nt get into the business major.

I know a student who voluntarily entered as undecided and wants into the business school as an accounting major. It is difficult to transfer into business. You need a gpa in the 3.4 range (varies by particular major) and you must actually apply to that major. There is no guarantee of getting it after two years of time investment. It might be best to apply directly to the major you want and apply to some backup colleges.

DUS is a great way to start if you are undecided. That is no question. But to use it as an easy way to get in can be risky for the reasons above. Also I am surprised that they encourage kids who were waitlisted under different majors to change to undecided when they really have a definite major they are interested in, when there is a chance they may not get in.
