SonRK, lol Interesting... did you apply to any colleges already? Or are you a junior?

Yea I applied to Rutgers New Brunswick, Penn State University Park, and New York University College of Arts and Sciences.

I got in all 3 of them. Really surprised at NYU since I was really pushing it with my stats, heh.

A pertinent discussion:

No, AA is legally alive at private colleges.
It's not alive at the UC's, Mich, or Texas.

The CollegeBoard has sold your ethnic information from the PSAT and or SAT that you took as far back as tenth grade. Colleges are eager to purchase this information to start early recruitment of URM's- especially those with good scores. It's in their Enrollment Management database with your SS# even before you apply.

For people saying "Be proud that you're Asian!" -- realize that the OP has diminished chances if he or she writes that down. To the OP -- do whatever you feel is right.

putting down your race has always been optional.

ever heard of james merideth? in 1962 (when southern schools were still segregated) he was black but didnt put down a race when applying to the University of Mississippi. the board assumed he was white and he was accepted. but on the first day of school they wouldnt let him in but he fought it and won becoming the 1st black at the university of mississippi.

kind of off-topic but it circumlocutes back to my main point
