he also said that wharton is harder to get into than certain harvard undergrad majors. true? cause i want to go into business.

taking sats this october, what score should i be looking at? my ec’s are wide, but also business oriented.

In a word...YES

jonthemole, give me a link that says wharton isn't the best at UG busi..

It is SOOO true! :-)

what about MBA's? aren't those more important than UG when looking for a job?

Wharton UG satisfies as a grad degree (for the most part). Top firms would rather you get the work experience than bother w/ an MBA (if you went to Wharton, that is).

Wharton is slightly less selective than Harvard. Its peer is most likely Stanford.

well.. its not rlly our concern if its mba is good or not..... BUT its mba program is also highly ranked (some might say first), u should be aiming at AT LEAST 2100, and most probably near 2300 or higher to be in range, i think. unless u have other really good stats tht compensates a not so in range SAT

yes yes and yes

what about harvard's prestige. lol

everyone knows harvard. everyone.

Harvard doesn't have an undergrad buisness program.

lol, this must be like the tenth time I've seen someone saying: "Dude, harvard doesn't have an UG business program." hahaha, funny...all these people trying to figure out which college's name they like the most without looking into more details in what one can actually DO in that college...funny

^^ harvard mba's make the highest salary out of any grad school.

man, u guys seem to all really hate, if not look down at harvard

me.mv: u seem really obsessed with Wharton's UG program. just an observation

joe, keen observer! (im applying to wharton this fall for early)...

btw, i wasn't insulting and certainly not looking down on harvard (i don't dare to! lol) im just saying that a lot of ppl only go for the names, and i advise them to try to rank the desired colleges according to their own interests first...For example, if i were to go to graduate business school, then i'd definitely focus on applying to harvard, stanford or wharton.

The myth is that you need to get an UG business degree to go into business. Scores of Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, Stanford, Williams, etc alums with incredible business careers would love to disagree.

Joe, you dont get into Harvard, or most Ivies, by major. You get into the college, regardless of major. I go to Columbia (for my MBA) and a great majority of people come from the top schools and LACs, and most of those people had non-business undergrad majors.

You don't need an ug business degree to go into business - but it helps you get ahead faster because you're not learning everything for the first time during training.

I think it makes senswe that most people who go to MBA programs have non-business undergraduate majors/degrees. Those people need/want an MBA the most because they've had no formal education in that area. After having been through 4 years of ug business, I don't want to do another 2 years of the same thing, especially if I don't "have" to.

hmm ya i'll apply for wharton.

Wharton was also just ranked #1 for undergrad business in USNews (right above MIT's Sloan School) if that makes a difference to you

Wharton is almost always ranked #1 for UG biz and top 3 for graduate business.

US News just came out with the 2006 rankings, and Wharton was #1.

As for the post about Harvard... "everyone knows about Harvard," but everyone also knows about Wharton.
