I never though I'd find my perfect school, and that inevitably, i'd be going to an overcrowded, overly Asian (i am asian, so i can say this) UC. But now, i realize how lucky I am to find the "perfect" school for me: Tulane. Big City, Profs that actually care, good financial aid, and and undergraduate program in what I want to do.

Anyone who wants something so badly and is so enthusiastic and willing to work for it already is miles ahead of her competitors. Good luck ElanorRigby and if you have any questions, you know to come back and ask!

Eleanor - did you just come back from a visit? Glad you are so excited. Just as alongfortheride said, come here for any questions/thoughts which come up.

Are you going to apply for the DHS? Do you plan to apply by the EA deadline? I think we mentioned before that this could enhance your chances of merit $.

PS I lived in California for many years (Bay Area) and New Orleans will be a nice change without the brrrr factor.

My SAT score was below the average - I applied for Newcomb - and I was accepted. Have a good essay, and submit it even if it's optional for you. And, of course, do well in school.

tulane really isn't hard to get into at all. don't worry. the only thing i'd say that's remotely hard to get into is the honors college -- which depends a lot on SAT's and is kind of random. So worth it though. By the way I'm transferring out of Tulane. Message me if you have any questions.

Tulane is relatively easy to get into. If you have a 3.0 and at least a 1350(old SAT), then you have a decent shot. I know someone who got in with a 3.1 and a 1320 old SAT.

Yes, good shot (if a non-student may be so bold as to contribute). People win DSA's and entrance to the Honors Program with stats not very much higher than yours, if at all. Best of luck to you! Why not go all out and try for the Dean's Honor Scholarship? All it takes is an early app and a little extra time. You could negotiate your way into it if you don't get it first time through (I know someone who did such a thing!)

There is NO reason to believe that you shouldn't get into the honors program. Tell them it's what will make you choose Tulane over your other choices when the time comes. Have faith in yourself! You've done well; now use your good record to your advantage!

Elanor I am curious as to what Major you are since you said it was actually what you wanted to do. Are you planning on making a custom major? Or is it a specialty like their Bio-something Engineering?
