i honestly don't think i can get in anywhere i applied...comments?

i've been going over and over my college list...and i regret applying to all reach schools basically...here's where i applied, most of them for school of engineering/compsci:

cmu, rice, northwestern, stanford, brown, columbia, upenn, jhu, duke, cornell, hmc, amherst, ucberkeley, ucla, ucsd, uci, usc, cal poly slo

i didnt initially intend to apply to these seemingly pick-the-top-of-the-list schools, but these schools had the best compsci programs...
keep in mind that one of my UC essays SUUUUCKED!
commonapp essay: pretty good
recs: probably mediocre

Hooks: low income; female in CS

Thats a monstrous list of top schools! wow. Your chances are probably bleak for stanford, columbia, upenn, jhu, duke, rice, and amherst. But You seem like a good candidate for the rest! Cal Poly is probably a safety.

so for like northwestern cornell brown and UCs id be fine?

Yeah most likely from what I know. jhu is very much like northwestern but you have a better shot at northwestern because of some of your ec’s. I wouldn’t say fine because all of these colleges could be crapshoots. But I would say above average chances for them.

do you think i’d get into at least one of the privates? :expressionless: i know it’s hard to say…but i just want to feel better about myself…

lol i think i’m just unrealistic

the only reason i applied to amherst northwestern and rice is that i was able to forward my questbridge app, thinking that it might help my chances lol

I am not sure. But can you chance me back on my chances at Vanderbilt?

not if you don’t even chance me…

Relax. UCI and Cal Poly are safeties. UCSD and USC are likelies. And although it’s impossible to predict the others, you are in the ballpark for several. Good luck!

CMU: Low reach
Rice: Reach
NWU: Reach
JHU: Reach
Stanford: Reach
UPenn: Reach
Columbia: Reach
Duke: Reach
Cornell: Low reach (ladies are favored heavily in CS and engineering there)
HMC: Low reach
Amherst: Reach
Berkeley: High match
UCLA: High match
UCSD: Match
UCI: Low match
Cal Poly: Low match
USC: High match

Thanks everyone. Very reassuring. Wouldn’t mind some more chances though :)

bump?10char

I believe I did give you my opinion on your chances. I dont understand what you were expecting…

The sheer amount of schools you applied to is a guarantee you’ll get at least into one of them, also the fact that you’re a low income female applying to STEM schools is a huge boost. So I’m basically saying, be at ease, you’ll get into somewhere good.

I’d really appreciate it if you chanced back!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1430414-chances-jhu-cornell-duke-will-chance-back.html

Wow. Compared to most people in high school you have better grades and ECs. You’ll be fine at any school.

thanks for all your input guys  what about privates?
