I hope that isn't the only type of kids applying to good schools. Pleaser assure me that CC is a more elite group than applicants as a whole

dont worry, it is

Thank god.

lol, I would be terrified if this represented many more people

Yea I get so confused all the time b/c CC people are so smart and make me go "OMG I'M NOT GOING TO GET INTO ANY COLLEGE", and then my counselor would take one look at me and be like "Not all of the applicants know what to do, or are as obsessed as you".

I dunno if this is a blessing, or a curse. :D I should remind myself more often whenever I get depressed b/c of CC people's stats.

haha i know, this website tends to scare the crap out of me.

This is like, .7% of applicants, and a lot of them are probably lying about their stats, especially on the Ivy boards.

.7%? No. You will find that at all of your elite schools, about 70% of the applicants are deemed academically qualified, and competitive applicants.
CC certainly has a lot of exaggeration, but it is not that far off from what you will see at the top schools.

I encourage you to look over the CC forums showing results of last years decision threads. I assure you that you will be amazed at many of the decisions.

its not haha

My opinion is that smart kids who want to get into top notch schools are more neurotic and therefore go on CC to enjoy the company of other neurotic applicants. :)

=P I have to agree with lightswitch. If you're the average applicant you're not going to care as much...

Even if many CC posters seem to have an amazing status, there's a huge number of people on this forum that complain they don't have such a brilliant status. Do you see my point?

There was a pretty representative thread a couple years ago in which most seniors posted their stats. The average SAT was ~1480, as I recall.

I disagree with 1MX. CC is exceptional, even by elite standards. Most of the '09 Robertson Scholars were on here, for example, and a disproportionate number of CCers receive likely letters and major scholarships. If any of you are HP fans, even the creator of MuggleNet was on CC.

Yes, as CC grows more popular, I've noticed an influx of more people representative of the whole applicant pool.

^Emerson was on CC?!?!?! Wow! But did you say 'was'?

i disagree. this is a very representative population of applicants to elite schools. this displays the sad reality that college admissions are just getting more competative every year. now the avg ivy applicants has a 2200+ and is fluent in 6 different african languages. unless you are african ameircan, his(panic), or native american your chances have become diminished to almost 0.

on a brighter note i just saved a bunch of money on car insurance by switching to geico. :) happy rejections!!

If CC was a true sampling of college applicants then America would have the smartest and most elite teenage body in the universe.

I think a lot of really smart high school students around the world let their parents lurk and post on CC and spend their own time doing their school work and their activities.

why is your username tokenadult any referance to "token black guy" or token from south park
