****Other info: first generation college student, moved to US when I was 4, fluent in Russian

Chance at these schools:

Whitman College ( ED II )
Puget Sound
University of Vermont
Minnesota - Twin Cities
University of Rochester

do I need better safeties ( mine is Vermont right now)?

bump

bump…anyone know

I think you have good chances at all of those schools and wouldn’t be too worried.

2040 sat, 24% of class with explanation, everything else good

I know a girl that got into Vermont recently with lower SAT’s. Her grades were probably better, but overall I think you’ve got her beat. The other schools you are applying to might be harder, but not significantly. Your math SAT score is low, but it doesn’t look like math is your thing and you scored where you needed to. GL~

thanks north_face …anyone else
esp. about whitman, my gpa is low for them?

in at Roch, Vermont, and Puget. Idk whitman at all im sry. nice SAT I disparity btw lol, i am just messing with you
chance me back please!!!

bump

In everywhere except Rochester I think. Even though Rochester is near a match.

I agree with above. Rochester is somewhat of a reach with the GPA but in at all the others.

really, rochester is less likely than whitman? (that is good if its true)

can others use the following scale to give me an idea for each school:

high reach - no chance
reach - alomost no chance
low reach - small chance
high match - competitive, but will need amazing essays, recs, etc and prolly a hook
match - 50/50 chance of getting in
low match - more than 50 percent chance, but no garentee
safety - 100% chance

i would agree, i think you have good chances at every school. that cr score really helps

thanks GSW …anyone else?

id call rochester a high match

like others said: you should be in a UVM; Roch is a slight reach i think (Math is 120 pts below their middle 50, average GPA is 3.7). my prediction is that you’ll get in to URoch anyway
i dont know much about the other schools tho

btw what is your GPA out of if it isnt 4.0 scale? that might change things a little

i think your fine for rochester too.
you have good scores and classes…
and really nice ec’s so that will balance them out with you gpa…which btw is out of wat if not 4.0?

I think you could apply at reach-ier schools and still get in, like Reed whose due date is 1/15…that 800 in CR forgives a lot of sins…they are a lot rarer than 800s in Math.

UVM should be a good safety. You’re fluent in Russian and first gen, so those are good hooks. I got in with lower SAT scores. I don’t see why they wouldn’t admit you.

the gpa up there is one I calculated for myself on a 4.0 scale.

My school officially uses this weird 4.67 scale. i dont really understand.
