So my grades pretty much suck, but what do you guys think are my chances? Especially at NYU; that's my dream school.

Please be completely honest; don't post answers like "You can do whatever you set your mind to." Also, if you post a reply, please don't just say something like "I think you have a shot." Give me REASONS you think I have a shot; is it a reach? A match? What?

Because you've made three threads in less than 2.5 hours!!! Jeez, give it some time, this may be a big website, but it's definitely not necessary do that in such a short time span, besides, why didn't you just bump up your other threads???

Anyway, you have a very good explanation and noticeable upward trend, I think you have decent shots at Howard and Hampton because your ACT scores are great, and your GPA is justified. I'm not so sure about NYU, maybe.

I'm sorry, 4 threads, give it a rest for a while. Read a book for a while and come back and I'm sure you'll have some posts, albeit very annoyed ones.

Shot at NYU - Strong. Here is why...it is understandable that you've had to face tremendous changes in your freshman and sophomore years. I'm not going lie, it looks a bit lousy to have a 1.0 GPA...but it's understandable. Here is what makes it good...you challenged yourself as you got older. It looks like you've fixed some issues in your life and that you really are capable of much more than some GPA. You have a ton of ECs ... you're an athlete, a debater, and a person who takes AP courses. A 33 is an excellent score on the ACTs. Howard is traditionally "black" college..so I'm sure that you have a better chance there than at most. Just make sure to really shine on those essays.

I don't think a lot of people are familiar with your first two choices.

You made a lot of topics... it's kind of annoying...

You have a quite a good shot for NYU.

Dena nesh? - - - I'm Ethiopian too! I think you've done very well and you should focus on the college essays. Explain what interests you about your intended major/minor, Ethiopian culture :], anything in particular that reflects who you are as person. I hope all goes well!
