I just finished Chapters 1 and 2 for AlcoholEdu

Oh my God...it was horrible.

UNBEARABLE

I will do chapter 3 later tonight because I can't stands no more!!!!

How many chapters are there?

4 chapters

first you do 3 long ass chapters then an exam

then 30 days later a 4th chapter and there are numerous surveys

Its all very retarded

I love the way that in the case studies the "college students" all look 35.

I'm not doing it :)

I never even got the letter saying we had to do it.

nor did I but I daresay I'll get it sometime next year :p

HAHA they do look 35...

How come the only black guy gotta be on the football team??? :)

Who has to do the course and who is it optional for? Why is King the only one who's started!? Have the rest of you received the info yet?

I think everyone entering Princeton '09 has to take it by September 12th. Some people are rebelling, and others are just procrastinating until September...

Every student has to do it. I've already finished the first two chapters. It's not that bad. You can even test out of chapters if you already know the info.

This is probably a really stupid question, but what happens if you fail the test? I mean, I'm not really planning to read the chapters all that dilligently.

And how do you test out, Bokonon?

I got the info; haven't started it yet though. I think all students have to do it. We should conspire and help each other to test out of everything :p

It will ask you if you want to test out of the second chapter after you complete the first one.

I certainly understand that reaction. I'd also guess that if you asked the Princeton campus security folks what percentage of fights, property damage, or violent events on campus involve alcohol or drugs the % would be incredibly high. Lots (and lots) of freshman lose it when they get new found freedom at school ... I have not seen the material ... but Princeton is proactively trying to get a handle on one of the biggest challenges that freshman (and their colleges) face each year.

Do a lot of freshman experiment with alcohol and drugs (I'm not talking major stuff here, just casually)?

But so do high school students and middle school students...

It is weird that I never got anything saying I have to take it... I live in NJ, so assuming they sent out the mailing to everyone at the same time, I should have gotten it already.

I just got mine today and I live in Philly. I'm surprised to hear of the high use of drugs on campus. Princeton doesn't strike me as a "party" school. I think of the big state schools like Penn State and University of Miami as more likely to have lots of drugs.

see "Crossing the line? Drug use at Princeton" for a good report.
