What are scholars days for? Does everybody get the invite or does it mean something (ie chance for the honors program--cause on the card it says "to honor your achievements and explain the outstanding academic opportunites avaialbe to you on campus, including the honors programs") ?

I got that card too. I hope they're giving out money. Haha. But I don't think I can go. IL is too far. =/

what college were you accepted under? I can explain the Business one if so

Las...but by all means, explain the business one since I would think they probably serve similar purposes (maybe?)

Ok well, first off, you show up and sign in. They give you a free t-shirt and then you are sent off to breakfast (which is also free). The breakfast was in one of the dorm dining halls and it was good. During the breakfast, you sit with your respective college (they have their own tables marked off). At the business tables i was able to sit with other invited students and their families, as well as current business students and a few of the business deans themselves. That was a good opportunity to meet other admitted students, as well as ask current students about their routines, etc. After eating, you are able to take an optional dorm tour should you so desire, or you can continue to sit with your college. Whether you tour the dorm or not, eventually all are back in the dining area, where a speaker spoke briefly welcoming everyone attending. We were then sent off our separate ways (each college that is). My group ultimately ended up inside a room in one of the business buildings, where the Business Honors Dean spoke to us. During this time, he notified us all that those (and this might only apply to Business so keep that in mind) invited to Scholars Day will be invited into the James Scholar Honors program. He continued on to describe the details of the James Scholar program, as well as have other Business personnel and students come in to talk to us. Any questions were also answered. After this, time was alotted to go eat lunch (not free). Lastly, everyone as a whole returned to another conference hall where a speaker and a student panel spoke of the Campus Honors program. They too answered questions. After that panel, an optional campus walking tour (all outdoors) was made available. I did not attend that as I am already familiar with the campus. If you want my expressed opinion, I would reccommend attending the day. I thought the James Scholar program information and Business college talk was well done; however, I personally did not find the Campus Honors presentation to be very informative (again, an opinion coming from an already fairly informed person).

Sorry if that description was too extensive, but I'm pretty sure I covered every inch of the day.

Thank you. That was very informative.

yeah that was really informative. thanks.

mine said the available dates were february 23rd and March 12...I got it today, the 24th. It said respond by the 20th for the 23rd date...and yet they mailed it on the 21st. it would've been nice to go during vacation...but whatever.

I figure if I'm going to visit the campus on either an accepted students day or a scholar day, may as well pick the scholar day since it seems a little more personal.

so.....if you're in James Scholar (LAS), does that mean you should get an invite?

anyone going on the 12th? I'm so psyched to miss school

when did the invites come? cause i got a letter before for the James Scholar program (LAS) but i don't remember getting anything for the scholar day.

how do you sign up for the james scholar program anyways? do you ahve to sign something or fill something out? can anyone clarify on how that works?

I'm going on the 12th, phinxae.

There was nothing on the application concerning the james scholar program, you're simply invited in if you meet the requirements. A post above mentions that everyone that was with him in the business section of the scholar day was notified by the end that they were being invited into the program. I'm surprised you weren't invited to the scholar days...did you apply early? Have you already accepted the offer of admission? They probably wouldn't bother to tell you to visit campus again if so. I didn't apply early nor have I already accepted.

sweet i got an email today and i was selected as a James Scholar for the College of Business Honors Program. so sweet, they revised the whole program for next year's class. I was not however to any Scholar Days or anything.

I was accepted early but didn't accept their offer of admission yet. Also got into James Scholar for LAS already. should I be waiting for an invitation?

yeah i just got it in the mail. the invite i mean. yeah i accepted early and all.

and what i meant about the james scholar program was like do i have to send something into say that yes i wanna do it? like some colleges want you to apply or send something in after you've been invited in or something. just was wondering if there is anything i should do for it once i've been selected for the program.
