I just got an award for $15,000 per year. Liberal arts scholarship....

It also goes on to say that those students who are awarded this scholarship are not going to be in the Finalist weekend. I am guessing that I did not make the Fianlist cut. Any thoughts? Has any one got any Finalist notifications yet?

I got the same award. You are correct, this means that they want to award you something but you are not a finalist.

What i wanna know is out of the 350 semifinalists, how many got this award? I believe about 50 became finalists…

I got the same too. I’m wondering this as well ^^

I believe there are 47 finalists (they left the email addresses in the “To” field in the email they sent out to finalists, and there were 47 addresses).

haha okay but i think what we want to know more is what this level of recognition (liberal arts scholarship) means for us. so how many got the LAS and other awards besides finalist

congrats on getting finalist though!

Son also got the 15K LAS award.

In the semifinalist letter it said they would name “nearly 200 scholarship winners” of whom “approximately fifty” would be invited to campus for interviews - so sounds from Falselife’s post that this year there were 47. The letter then says “an additional group of semifinalists will receive either Liberal Arts Scholarships or the John Emory Scholarships, ranging from $11,000 up to 2/3 tuition.” The “additional group” is a bit misleading - I think it should really say “the remaining group of semifinalists……”

I assume that the John Emory Scholars form part of the Emory Scholar program, whereas the LAS do not. Still, whatever scholarship you got, it represents high recognition of your achievements, so congratulations to all.

So let’s get this straight.

There were 350 semifinalists. 200 were named “scholarship winners.” 50 of those (or 47, whatever) were named finalists. So that means 150 semifinalists received either a Liberal Arts or a John Emory scholarship, and 150 semifinalists received nothing (but early admission of course).

Am I correct?

I think so. That’s my interpretation, at least.

So that means anyone who received ANYTHING is in the top 200 Emory Scholars semifinalists?

Haha I wanna use this to gauge my chances of being admitted into some of my first-choice schools come late march/early april…
