I just got appointed, I'm kind of going crazy here!

Nicely done, Dash.

Go get 'em! :)

Congratulations! Sounds like a scene from Rocky!

Go ahead and scream, you have earned it!

Really happy for you youngster. Sorry, I meant PLebe! :D

Congrats Dash-9!!!

Now go and write down all those wonderful feelings you are having right now... you never know when you might need to recall them in the years ahead! Welcome to the Class of 2011!!!!

Excellent! Couldn't be happier for you!

Has your mom or dad come running with the bubble wrap and duct tape yet?

Keep safe and enjoy the rest of your freedom!

Ha Cougar, funny you say that, I'm actually going up for my last cross country solo required for my pilot's license in about 2 hours! So I'd say they're TRYING to get me killed!!!

Thanks again for all the kind words, I really wish I could see everyone on these boards in person, that'd be a blast...wait, I can! (well some) I-DAY!!!!!!!!

If I remember correctly, that's the long one? Two other airports, at least 100 nm apart or something like that?

Good luck. Are you going to take the Flight test before I-day.

Dash-9 Have fun on your cross country. Hope the weather is good for you. What's your time frame for taking your check ride? My Plebe was in about the same place you are and took his check ride last May 12th, 4 days before graduating from high school. He flew a lot from graduation until IDay. I imagine leave this summer will be spent in the air.

Dash-9 As a retired CFII/ATP I woud like to hear how your solo X-Country went. Hope it was CAVU all the way!!

Oh man, what a day! I logged 4.7 hours today. My flight was from Grand Ledge (west of Lansing, Michigan), up to Traverse City (Cherry Capital), and then ENE to Gaylord (upper northern Michigan), then a straight heading south back to Grand Ledge Municipal. I had an absolute blast! Whenever I go flying, something funny happens with comms between the ATC and other pilots (including me!). Today, about 1 hour out of Grand Ledge, Minniapolis Center calls up some Northwest pilot (giving him vectors) and says, "Northwest blah blah blah, turn to heading 425, once established on the localizer blah blah blah..." and in my head I'm going, "how the hell do you turn to 425!!!?" Then after like 10 seconds I hear an "uhhh" (from the Northwest pilot) then quickly the ATC corrects himself, "I meant 225." Then the pilot says, "you know I was seriously considering whether or not you wanted me to do a circle or something..."

Anyways!

I plan on taking my written test this week sometime, I will do my check ride in about 1 month give or take, then I'm golden.

I will show some links here to some different legs of my flight. Enjoy,

Oh and hey Profmom2, was wondering, does your son get to fly at all at USNA, on the weekends maybe? Do you know how many hours he's logged since he has left? Thanks.

-David

Hasn't been able to yet but thinks after spring break he will be able to. He was able to fly over both Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks.

Pretty darn cool, David. Congrats all the way around!

Good job! Thanks for the photos!

Great Photos David. 777 Papa Tango? Nice N-number. If I'm not mistaken that's a Cessna 150 or 152? I soloed a 150 back in 1978 on my 16th birthday, and got my license in 1979 on my 17th birthday. Then dad quit paying the bills, so it came a little harder.

Subvet, we have something else in common. We need to get together sometime and talk Academy kids and airplanes.

Cool pics! thanks for sharing!!!

Congrats Dash-9, Ive been reading this thread all week with envy, and my appointment finally came today, I am beside myself with joy. Now I know what you were talking about.

danbrenn, congratulations man!

Yea, Cougar, it's a Cessna 150. I love saying "triple seven papa tengo". However, many times the controllers will say seven, seven, seven, papa tengo extra slowly I think to send the message that I shouldn't say triple seven? Oh well.

Congratulations! Now you can exhale. Do you mind telling what state you live in?

Danbrenn-

Congratulations! WHOOO HOOO!! :D
