I am really surprised that I just got a phone call tonight for an interview. I had written it off since it is so late in the process. All my other interviews were in December. What do you all make of this?

well I had my interview a while ago but the guy in charge of interviews in my area called me to make sure I had mine because the report is due by march 1st, so i guess your interviewer is just a little behind

OK - well at least that makes more sense because I am doing the interview tomorrow. I was completely caught off guard by the call!

I don't think it's that unusual. I just had my interview yesterday.

i had mine last week...when we were trying to figure out a date my interview also said reports needed to be in by the 1st

My S just got a call for a Brown interview last night--and the interviewer said the reports had to be in by March.

me too! just received an e-mail yesterday and will have one tomorrow!!! the interviewer said that he had to give the report in by March 1st @.@

Well, in my S's case they won't be able to meet until Monday. Not his fault that he has a commitment out of state and the interviewer didn't call until the last minute. Who knows if it will make a difference....it's hard to imagine that they haven't already read most of the RD files by now...

I think the interviews have very little impact on whether or not you are admitted.

It is not only a way for the school to find out more about you - it is a way for you to find out more about the school.

I just got my interview right now!!

my interviewer was scheduled to contact three people, but she never did. so it might have been a mishap. i had a wonderful man interview me instead, he was great to speak with.

I just had my interview today.
She said that whoever put my school's ID number in the system, messed up one number, and thus made it look like I went to school in St. Louis. So they sent my information to the St. Louis coordinator. She never called me because she saw my address was in Chicago...they just figured out what happened.
With that said, I had a wonderful interview :-)

Sure it's right, I had one last week. By the way, I got my Brown interview very fast - I got called something like 10 hours after I had submitted my application!

I personally think that there should be a bigger emphasis on interviews since nowadays most kids get help while preparing their applications. Many essays are written by professional who kids pay for etc...I think interview is the only place that the "school" could really see the "real" applicant...

I got a phone interview, which I was very grateful for because I really wanted some chance to stand out... I also have tonsillitis and my voice is hilarious. Oh well haha

does anyone known how brown weighs the interviews in their decision?

my interview with my brown alum was amazing and we talked for almost 2 hours and it really made me love the school. but my interview for another school -which shall remain nameless- was so bad (actually when i was asking the guy a question i accidentally said brown instead of the real school haha...i couldn't really tell if he noticed though i didn't say it too loud... that might be a deal breaker). but i felt like he wasn't trying to get to know me, just going through a list of questions, he was nice though. the interview lasted 25 minutes max and the guy was late. so sometimes interviews can reveal a lot about the person, but other times it doesn't. its basically asking them to make a judgment of the person and you cant do that too well in 25 minutes. anyways im ranting...

my dad was interviewer for brown and he said that they just ask them to write a paragraph about their impressions of the person, how interested they are in the school, etc.

My son appiled to Brown, did not get an interview... he has at the other schools he has appiled to ... good sign? bad sign? Please tell me.

sammy2
my daughter also applied and did not get an interview so I would be interested
also in what that might mean.

i doubt it means anything. a girl at my school go into Brown ED without an interview this year. they probably just didn't have any available alumni in your area that could interview you guys.

It probably means that there were no alums in your area available to interview your kids. I would not treat is a big rejection sign. Interviews at Brown are "optional".
