Is it just me or did everyone who applied to UVa take the "favorite word" essay choice. I picked the Nobel Prize Winner statement about how we are looking for absolutes...Was it a bad choice to pick this one? lol I guess ill find out 2moro

I picked the quote one too dude, I thought it was definitely the easiest. I got echols so I don't think choosing it hurt me...

Conlan...do you go to Regis in Manhattan (It's walters...)

I think I'm the only person who did the "diversity" essay...and I'm a southern white girl, go figure

Keith, let me just say I think UVA should accept absolutely everyone who was able to figure out what that quote meant and then write some kind of essay about it. When I saw the prompt my eyes glazed over, and my daughter said "only the genius kids will write about that one." (She picked the one about changing what she can see outside her window.) Good luck!

haha That would be nice if they did do that! Best of luck to your daughter today!

Walterssssss...wats up dude. Yeah its me Conlan...How's college things going man?

Things are going pretty well...I got into Music Industry/ Finance school at USC...waitlisted at William and Mary and denied at Yale...so I'm choosing btwn USC and ND....UVA is a sick school bro

To those who may have any idea on the subject: how similar are the criteria for acceptance to the Echols program at UVA and the Monroe program at W&M? I'm an in-state applicant, and I found out from William and Mary a few weeks ago that I was offered admission and the Monroe Scholars program, but aside from a likely letter, I've recieved no indication of anything from UVA until learning that I was accepted today. Does that mean that I did not get into the Echols program?

I was accepted into both the Echols program and the Monroe program. I don't know if the criteria is specifically outlined anywhere but the letters that I received from both UVA and W&M essentially used the same reasoning for why it was being awarded.

Re getting into Echols, if one got the "likely" letter, my understanding is that one does not necessarily follow the other. My sense is that the "likely" letters were probably sent to all of the people on the Echols shortlist - but this is merely speculation on my part.
