I just got my likely letter today!!!!!!

Congrats Shorty!

Okay, question for you all: I got the version of the letter that didn't mention Dimensions. And I haven't gotten an e-mail about Dimensions yet. How long should I wait before calling the admissions office about it - I really, really want to book my plane ticket!!

you know what i just realized?

pretend for a second that this is (shudder) the Harvard board. If it were, then upon hearing the news of a fellow New Jerseyan getting a likely, smartaleck and i would have been like, "Curses! That's one more New Jerseyan they're going to accept instead of me! I'm going to go cry and look down my nose at other people, belittling their other trivial acceptances, in an attempt to make me feel better about myself!"

but nope. we were thrilled for shorty and were glad that NJ hasn't been totally overlooked. i think that's significant lol

lol i definitely agree... it must be b/c blu and I ROCK... no other way to explain it (lol like how i called you 'blu' this time?)

I totally agree, blur and smart. That's definitely telling about the kind of people that apply to Harvard (and I think this competition occurs on the Yale board, to some degree), where here we all ♥ each other.

Your likelies are probably on their way. And even if they're not, remember every acceptee doesn't get one - if so, there's only 19 days until your fat package then!

Edit: Why does "fat package" sound like a really lame double entendre? Oh dear...

lol fat package hahahahaha

Thank you Thank you!

gracilisae, hmm there's a different version of the letter? i didn't know about that. I think you should just call in on monday. Tell them that you got a likely letter and heard from a friend about Dimensions. Then ask them if it's safe to assume that you'll be invited. sounds like a good plan? ;]

and to my fellow New Jerseyans(haha i don't think i've ever used this word before), THANK YOU MUCHO!! yeaa you guys ROCK! haha

btw..blu, I live in Bergen County,too! lol

Shorty,

Congrats!

I'm from N. Caldwell, N Jersey

Good idea; I'll definitely do that, shorty.

Who's wearing Dartmouth gear on Monday? I'm definitely going to obnoxious-it-up and gank my younger brother's sweatshirt to wear, since my Dartmouth gear is woefully lacking. All I have is these teeny-tiny running shorts with "Dartmouth" on the derri

hahahahha "fat package"

shorty, where in Bergen County? PM it if you dont' want to post it here lol

no but that's SO good to hear. everyone hates NJ, ESP. Bergen County, b/c we're so overprivileged...comforting to know they're not shunning us lol

but then again, i'm not rich at all even though i live in the richest county in NJ. esp. since both my parents lost their jobs last year lol

I'M NOT A SPOILED NJ BRAT!!!!! send word to the adcoms!

Hi Shorty and Gracilisae,

You will get an invitation with your admission letter in April. The only difference is that the cost of Dimensions is subsidized by the College. Call Admissions at 1-800-860-1294 let them know that you are interested in attending.

Gracilisae, since you will be flying, find out if you can get any type of dicscount fare that you can get. Shorty, snice you are coming from NJ, find out if you can take the bus that is coming from NYC. On campus the college will match you up with a host and feed you.

Thank you for the advice, sybbie! ;] I think i should arrange it soon, since it says that space is limited for the bus. But i'm still not too sure if i'll be going. I'm planning to visit sometime in march or early april. I know someone that goes to Dartmouth, so she'll be taking care of me. But then again, i don't really want to miss Dimensions, either, and i doubt that my parents would let me go there twice in the same month..
what a dillema...=T

If you have the option, attend Dimensions as it will give you an opportunity to bond with your fellow 09's as the school really rolls out the red carpet for you. You will have the opportunity to inquire about study abroad, D-plan, pre-professional schools etc. Right now current students are finishing finals as spring break officially begins this wednesday and is over Monday after easter, clases resume on that tuesday. Early april every one is just getting back in the grove of returning for the spring term.

If you are going to stay with your friends at another time, you should probably go during Green Key in may (should you decide to attend)

what's Green Key, syb?

I'm there for Green Key!

I just got my likely letter today in sunny South Florida! And a VERY generous financial aid notice! This just made my weekend!

Any Californians get a likely letter recently?

Blu,

You know I live in NYC, don't make me come to NJ to ping you :)

You need a letter, bad. We talked about Green Key during winter carnival. There is an event a season, Sophmore Summer, Homecoming - fall , Winter Carnival, Green Key- Spring

The Green Key Society is a junior honorary service organization at Dartmouth College. We have approximately 60 members, 20 of whom are elected from the class at large, and 40 of whom are nominated by such various campus organizations as the Marching Band, Ski Patrol, SHEBA Dance Group, Dartmouth Community Services, Dartmouth College Athletic Department, Nathan Smith Society, and many many more. Our members are distinguished whenever they volunteer by the trademark green polos or green vests that they wear. The organization was founded back in the 1920's to provide a leadership role for the junior class, as well as to aid the College. Since then, our role has changed and grown, even unto the present day.

Green Key is charged with service to and leadership in the Dartmouth Community. Within the College, we are 60 pairs of willing hands and minds, eager to help out where needed. Outside its borders, we are, in effect, ambassadors of the College. Green Key finds itself in a unique position, enjoyed by very few groups on campus - our members are drawn from literally all across the College. Thus we are, like no other group can be, a group of 60 junior leaders. By virtue of our roles as stewards, ambassadors, and servants, every year, Green Key helps out at such events as First-Year Orientation, the Homecoming Sweep and the Bonfire, Commencement, Green Key Weekend, and many other events including performances, services, and guest speakers.

Green Key Weekend is Friday May 13 - Sunday May 15, 2005
