I just got my SAT scores

I am kind of disappointed…

CR : 470
M : 560
W : 450 ( essay 8 )

Total : 1480/2400

Most universities I want to apply to ask for a 900-1000/1600 on the CR and M sections.
But my #1 choice ask 1100. I was so close. I feel so screw…

By the way, is it a good score for a foreigner ?

It would be nice if I could have some feedback… Instead of you just watching and leaving…

I think there is an international subforum that you may want to ask on. You might get more helpful answers there. My guess (solely from reading CC) is you either need to retake for higher scores or readjust your target schools. But it may be that whichever country you are coming from makes a difference.

Try to take a good test prep class and take it again. We moved here a few years ago from a non-english speaking country and my DD was able to raise her scores by a LOT within a year and a half. CR 150pts, M 100pts, W 80pts.
If they see a continued progress, that may help and it would put you within range of your schools.

Some international students have studied English for many many years and have attended schools that are more rigorous than many in the U.S. These students would be expected to have better SAT scores. However, some international students have studied English for fewer years and live in countries where schools are less rigorous and may not offer all the subjects they do here. Those students would be expected to have lower SATS. What school(s) are you hoping to go to? Can you practice more and take the test again?

By the way, I teach ESL and realize the SAT is amazingly difficult for a non-native speaker who is still working on becoming proficient in English.

@momof2girls => I am from a French speaking country.

@chelsea => I wish I could but unfortunately I lack of time…

@milk => My number 1 choice is Bryant University. Unfortunately I cannot practice more because in 1 month I am going to take the Toefl exam. So if I had to take the SAT exam I would do it in June.

By the way, I took the Toefl 2 years ago and got a score around 80. Then, before I prepared for the SAT, I had stayed a year and a half without really practicing English.
Thank you for your comments guys !!

Have you taken any IB, A level tests, or AP tests? I’m an international student and have applied to different universities. You asked if it is a good score for a foreigner? The answer is no, but don’t be disheartened, universities will also take into account your other scores (IB, A levels, or AP). For example, my friend received an 1900 on her SAT, but also received a 42 (maximum) predicated on her IB, and she was able to get into Stanford (Stanford’s average SAT is 2200 - 2300). Same applies to almost every student at our school, we get a don’t quite reach the SAT average for our selected school, but we are give a slight advantage over other students because of our IB scores. Also, your test scores won’t be the only thing they look at, theres still GPA, ECs, essay, recommendations, ect. Good luck though.

I have no idea what you are talking about … IB ? A ? AP ?

I am not worried about the rest because I did well in high school and my toefl score should be ok. Just the sat…

By the way, I am not planning to go to harvard, mit or any other elitist schools :)) :))

Your SAT score is not good for top schools, but still not bad for mid tier stateschools.

Can you pay btw?

Sure money is not a problem.
