I just got off the waitlist at Wharton!

Congrats, pandadragon!!
Hmm… maybe it’s just me, but I feel like Wharton is the kind of school that how much you need to pay, it’s worth it and you’ll be able to make it up in the future.
But I guess it does depend.
Either way, I really hope you go to a college you’re really happy at (though I hope Wharton gives you a good package! ).

Those acceptance letters are so beautiful~~ ^^ Hehe.
Please please please let me see one like that, too~~

@ 45 Percenter: Wow, I did NOT know that much about Penn. I kinda got the idea that it would be possible to take classes in between the colleges at Penn, but I had no idea undergrads could possibly take courses at the grad schools, too. That is SO cool!

So not many universities offer this? Esp. those that have a graduate school, too?

^ No, Penn is pretty unique in how much it encourages undergrads to take courses in other schools within the university, including the grad and professional schools. For example, I am not aware of any other top law school that makes its courses available to undergrads to the extent that Penn Law does. It’s all part of Penn’s vaunted “One University” policy, which has been around for decades and is a hallmark of Penn’s tradition of leadership in interdisciplinary research and study.

The fact that you’re not aware of it leads me to believe that Penn needs to do a much better job of communicating its unique strengths to applicants and potential applicants.

Why do Penn and other schools such as Cornell have these distinctions that are made when you apply in the first place? I’m not understanding how Penn’s “One University” policy is any different from what goes on normally at most other places. It’s not like you’re in the “Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences” and are encouraged to take courses at the “Harvard School of Arts and Sciences” or something. You’re just at “Harvard (College)” and can do whatever in any department.

Thanks a lot, 45 Percenter!
Yeah, I really wasn’t aware of this.
I mean, I am slightly knowledgeable about the interconnection between Penn’s undergrad schools, but even then, I would say that I still have lots to learn about the basics especially since I now have an interest in law along with biology (pre-med).
To be honest though, (and maybe this is just me), but I want to learn more about Penn, but there’s just SO much info. on the Penn website that it’s difficult for me to get the full picture about Penn especially in details, while for schools like my 2nd choice (USP), the website’s quite easy to navigate around and the information is concise to the point where things are easy to find. However, perhaps I just need to spend more time browsing Penn’s website. There’s a LOT of info though! Hehe~ Gotta take the time, huh? No pain, no gain!

You seem to be very experienced, 45 Percenter, and forgive me because I’ve only been very active on CC recently. You’re a Penn grad, right? I was wondering, how do you know so much about Penn? I think it’s great!

Congratulations Stupefy and thebaker and pandadragon! This just made my day I am sooooo happy for you guys! And it’s so exciting to know they are moving on the waitlist and that the waiting is almost over! Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone! No matter what happens you are all amazing people and will do great wherever you go! That said, Penn should just accept everyone already and let people make housing arrangements before heading out to a nice long well-earned summer holiday haha

Hmm, has anyone got off the Wharton waitlist who’s NOT from Pennsylvania?

Congrats Stupefy! I know you’ve been getting a lot of these messages, but I’d like to throw my 2 cents in and say that I hope to see you at Wharton next year

^I did end up choosing wharton :)

if you want to add me on facebook, drop me a message! :D
