Guys, I just got my last admission decision and I have been rejected yet again. Many things went wrong during my application process in Grade 11 and I think that has resulted in this. I am at a complete loss as to what to do and my parents are extremely disappointed in me. I need help guys.

just curious for my own sake, what was your gpa, test score, ect?

3.2, 2030 in SAT I, 2360 in SAT II and 116 in TOEFL. Also, a predicted of 44 in IB Diploma.

Tell us more and we can help you…

State of residence or are you an int’l?

How much will your parents pay each year?

GPA

Test scores…including SAT breakdown

Major

where did you apply?

International Student.
Approx. $35000 per year for tuition.
SAT CR: 630, Math: 770, Wr: 630.
Computer Engineering.
GaTech, UMich, Purdue.

It is only Jan 4th, and you have been rejected everywhere? There still is time to apply to some more schools.

???

$35k per year wouldn’t have paid for UMich and likely wouldn’t have paid for Purdue or GT.

Why did you apply to schools that your parents wouldn’t pay for??? Those schools don’t give aid to int’ls.

Do you realize that you have to SHOW that you’ll pay the whole COA in order to get your visa? The whole COA for those schools is $40k - 50k+

Thats what my friends are telling me. But I need suggestions on some good schools that will accept me with my profile and that are still open for application. Any suggestions?

Probably due to your low sat 1. Those colleges may have rejected you without looking at your later scores. But still, Umich is not THAT hard. You should have been accepted

Sorry, mom2collegekids, I meant per semester. Apologies.

You can try UAH, but again, you’re going to have to pay all costs. You might get a small merit scholarship.

Alabama would accept you but it would cost you about $40k per year.

Apply to schools that are rolling admissions, mostly state schools.

University of Houston
University of Texas (Dallas, Arlington)
Lamar University
Clemson University
University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Huntsville)

Ahh…

Well, I know that Alabama would very likely accept you. Your stats would get you in and into Computer Eng’g.

What about University of Texas at Austin. Do you think I will get rejected from there as well?

Did you apply to UT? Their deadline was dec 1.

UT likes OOS money and would probably accept you but I would be concerned based on your history since Purdue, UM and GT turned you down and and GT, UM and UT are listed as 6, 7, 8 for rankings.

I don’t get your 3.2 GPA (how did you come up with it?) when you show 44 expected IB score which is probably a top 1% in the whole world.

^^

Oh yes…you’d be rejected from UT. Your GPA is too low.

UT mostly only takes instate students, exceptional OOS students, and OOS athletes.

UT isn’t going to take a 3.2 int’l when it is rejecting instate students with MUCH higher GPAs.

You need to be reasonable. Your GPA is going to keep you out of the big name schools…as you’re already seeing with those rejections.

You need to quickly get some apps into schools that WILL accept you…otherwise going to a US school won’t work out.

The Alabama is VERY easy…takes like 5 minutes. No essays, no LORs. Your stats will get you admitted.

Idk. My school calculated my GPA and gave me the predicted score. I was shocked too regarding my GPA.

Hopefully, I get into UT Austin. Its my last hope.

Since your intended major is Computer Engineering, try applying to some smaller private [Association of Independent Technological Universities: AITU](http://www.theaitu.org) schools which give aid to international students. A number of them have rolling admissions.

Work with your counselor as well. Gpa is only one part of the whole process and no one can tell you for sure what schools will accept or reject you.

Okay. Thanks for the website xraymancs.

Ocm2014, we do not have a proper high school counsellor. So I’m afraid thats not possible.
