Should I just get the noose out now? (I'm at a CCC)

I don’t think it’s a big deal. Just try your damn hardest next semester.

What if I have 40 credits this semester and I’m supposed to transfer fall 2012, still ok for Davis/Riverside?

Hahahahahahaha. I’ve known people who got into UCR and Davis with grades worse than yours. :P

Seriously, just try your best next semester. You’ll still be able to explain yourself in a personal statement.

Yo, its called the magic of TAG .
a 3.0 is generally good enough

Are you taking summer classes? I would take a few classes this summer at your CCC to get yourself back on track. Personally speaking, summer classes help keep me in gear for the fall semester and they also keep me focused. Don’t obviously overwhelm yourself with two many classes, but to do well in two or three classes will definitely help you out.

The min. GPA for the Davis TAG changed to 3.2 for most majors (and the other majors have a 3.3 min GPA), so you won’t be able to TAG with a 3.0. However, I think things will be somewhat back to normal next year since most of the UCs have adopted more stringent TAG rules, so you should be good with a 3.0+ for most UCs (Irvine, Davis, Santa Barbara, Riverside, and Santa Cruz). Hopefully the new TAG rules for UCSD will set the cut-off GPA for non-TAG applicants for UCSD back to 3.2 (which is what is was last year - this year it was 3.8 X-/ ).

I don’t really know much about UC Riverside, but it seems like they let a lot of people in with less than a 3.0.
