I know many of us are waiting to hear from Tisch. I live very close to NYC and just got the Sunday at the Square invite for Tisch. It is postmarked Friday March 18th. So midwest should recieve them tommorrow and west coast on Wednesday.

I am beyond overjoyed because I applied for Dramatic Writing and I hear that is very competitive. I have decent stats, and heavy EC - My hook - I wrote, directed and cast a one act play that was performed in community theatre. I was accepted to St. Johns on an almost full academic scholarship. I was rejected by UCLA (their loss) because NYU is great!
I am still waiting on USC Screenwriting and Purchase College Dramatic Writing - though Purchase seemed interested - they had me come interview and write a play in front of them. They have an excellent program too.
Good luck to everyone applying to Tisch Film and TV.

Congradulations on NYU! Let's hope I get one...we have pretty simliar stats. Let's hope we both get into nyu and usc, and I can direct your screenplays!

I got one too for dramatic writing !! I was so happy when I opened the envelope! : ) Not sure I'll be able to attend though, as I'd have to come from all the way down in Texas.

I got one too! Does anyone know if they do actually have Sunday at the Square, or do we have to go to the one on Saturday? I can't make it to the Saturday one, but I really want to visit when other people are there. Also, when are the actual decision letters coming out?

Not to sound like an idiot, but by chance has anyone received an invite that may have had a particularly low GPA. With these last few weeks dwindling down, I'm becoming extremely paranoid. I've always wanted to attend NYU, but never really did all the work necessary to do so.
SAT - 1550 (800 Math, 750 Verbal)
ACT - 32...could have studied more for that one :-(
GPA - 3.25 WEIGHTED (I know, pitiful)
Involvement - Debate Captain 3 years, Ranked 3rd in the State of Kansas Debate, State Champion in Debate with 27 Win - 0 Loss record (If they received that update letter), Head of GSA, Head of Graphic Design Firm, Co-Owner of online resale business, diversity council, student council, etc.
Rec.'s - Haven't read them. Ahh, honesty.
Essay - I liked it, but that's oh so subjective. Wouldn't you say?
Portfolio I liked a lot, and had a great presentation of 10 paintings/digital art
Dramatic Essay - I wanted to kill myself. I thought they meant a 4 page script, that alone might kill me. The script is good, alas, it is a script. Argh.
I'm flipping out.
Anyone with a bad GPA? Please?

Oh, and I applied to Film and Television Production

I'm a tech theatre major. This invitation thing is making me flip out a little. Does everyone who gets an invitation get accepted? I don't want this to tantalize me and then shoot me down, heh.

My daughter got this invitation today as well and she applied to Tisch for Musical Theater. She is very happy. It is especially sweet as she is in the hospital recovering from a serious car accident!

Best wishes for a great recovery for your daughter!

I posted this in the MT forum, but I thought I'd post it here as well--

Does anyone know if Saturday at the Square invites are for American applicants only, or are international (i.e Canadian) applicants also invited?

From what I've heard the invitation means nothing - in years past kids have gotten that and then the rejection letter a few days later - I think it comes from a different office and they might send it to everyone who applied, not sure.

I spoke with a tisch admission officer today and she directly said that an invite to saturday on the square means "good news is coming". Why would they bother send out these fancy notes if they're going to reject us?

Ok, so if we don't get one (well I'm on the west coast, but I'm not holding out hope, my audition didn't go too great) does that mean we have no chance now? Just preparing myself!

I recall a discussion on cc last year, and some kind of invitation was sent out to some kids who then didn't get an offer of admission. BUT, I think it had to have been something different now that my son received one today and I read it - NO WAY they could send something out "for outstanding students in the entering class of 2005" to kids who are not accepted - the wording is pretty specific and it would be nothing short of cruel to do that. Sooooooooooo....I'm counting on this invite as an acceptance - HOORAY!!
