i just had an admissions reviewer email me

She asked the grade I have of a math class I'm currently taking and what I expect to end with. Weird...she's from UC Santa Barbara and on the bottom of the email it says the info can be shared with all the UC campuses I applied to.

Still haven't heard from UCSB, Berkeley or UCLA but I've been accepted to UCSC and UCI with a 3.4 (Anthropology major).

Has anyone else been contacted personally by admissions?

I recently experienced something similar; the email came from admissions-review@ucop.edu

yeah… i got the same email from a UCLA rep.
my class ended 3/24 and i received an A.
from what the SoCal Berkeley transfer advisor told me, any contact short of rejection is good contact, especially if you report an ‘A’.

If it’s your transferable Math, then yes they prefer that you have it done by Fall when you apply. They need it to review your app. That’s why you got contacted.

She must be dumb.
You are obviously going to report an A.
Should you get a C or a B, or much worse, just claim, that the professor lost my test.

doesn’t this seem like something they would ask for borderline applicants as they can’t make a final decision until they have the reported grade factored into your application?

yeah… what an idiot… giving a lowly student the benefit of the doubt, trusting him to be honest.

sometimes, you people…

“doesn’t this seem like something they would ask for borderline applicants as they can’t make a final decision until they have the reported grade factored into your application?”

yes, which to me, was reassuring.
getting that email suggests that my app stands (at least) a fighting chance.
:)

That’s what I thought too sweetnezz. [:

It just means that they need to make sure you passed transferable math, as it is a minimum requirement.

right, but, if i’m not mistaken, there are other people on this forum who are finishing math during spring who haven’t received any such email.

I received this same email from UCSB. I am currently taking math right now as well. I reported an A and the next day I got into SB.

I am currently pending for UCSB and am taking my math requirement this spring, but I haven’t been contacted by an admissions officer yet. :/

I am also taking my igetc math currently and have not heard from anyone. Accepted UCSD and waiting for UCLA and UCB.

I’ve already completed my Calculus (which I am using for my IGETC completion) but am taking Statistics (Pre-Req) and have already been admitted to UCD, UCI and UCSD. Haven’t received any e-mail (I am pending on Cal), but maybe because I have completed the minimum.

Good luck. [:

awesome re: getting in the next day after the email. ucsb is such a beautiful campus, i’m pretty sure i would go there over uci and ucsc.

update: I got accepted into UCSB! So I guess admissions reviewers mailing you is a good thing.

This may seem like a stupid question, but how did you format the e-mail?
Did you just write
Math and then the grade or did you go into detail?

^

Here is an example:

Yes, I have completed one year of high school Chemistry.

Fall 2004: “X” grade
Spring 2005: “X” grade

I had an admissions officer e-mail me requesting my grades in my winter classes and my midterm grades in english2 and math. My midterm grade for my English 2 class have not come out due to the fact that I have not started my English class yet ( a late starting 8 week course), should I inform them of this or just report a B? (I’m confident that I am going to earn at LEAST a B.) I’m afraid that if I don’t report a grade in English it will hurt my admission chances!
