i just got contacted for an interview today and Cornell told her that as long as we do it by this weekend we should be fine, so i guess they're not due Nov. 30th?

hmm idk i just read it on this site:

Cornell's Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network

look at November 30th

well it looks like we're just doing it last minute i guess

Surprisingly I received a phone call today and not long after I had a phone interview! So for those of you who haven't had one yet, be prepared! The guy was a sweetheart even though it kind of caught me off guard, but for the most part I was prepared because I have my Columbia interview Monday.
This is what he asked me:
-First ?: Why Cornell? I definitely don't think I answered this as well as I'd like to because it was the first question and I was very nervous :X
-What are your test scores? ACT/SAT
-GPA, rank
-E/C's, Volunteer activities
-Asked me about my major, future career choices
-He told me a lot of info about Cornell, diversity, etc.,
-Then we got right into my ?s and he answered all of them very thoroughly b/c he has a daughter who is a sophomore at Cornell

All in all, it went very well and he told me he has his fingers crossed for me :D

That's scary... I should mentally prepare myself for that!

i have my interview with an alumnus tomorrow at a coffee shop. should i offer to buy a drink for my interviewer, or would that be seen as being too much of a suck-up?

I was thinking the same thing too, onlyiknow.

I would do that though. Just to be nice at first.

i just came back after meeting with an alumnus. it was actually pretty chill; it was like an hour long, friendly conversation. I think i could have made some of my points more clear or direct, but it was good overall. and i became a lot more hopeful after this interview becuz the interviewer kept talking to me in the tone suggesting that i was already accepted. like, she started the interview with the comment "i'm so thrilled that you will be coming to ILR school!"
i was like "huh...??" lol i know these alumni dont have much (if any) control over admission, but i felt hopeful nonetheless.

The alumnus I interviewed with was also speaking like I obviously was going to Cornell next year. He was like, "Oh, yeah, no problem, you're totally getting in." I felt happy as well (while remembering he, of course, had no control over admissions).

i thought the CAAAN website specifically stressed alums to not ask for grades or scores unless volunteered to do so

It's stressed, and most alums don't. A few slip through the cracks though.
