In my opinion:

You can get a good education anywhere during your college years, if that’s something you want for yourself. You could probably even go to a community college and find some good friends, some good professors, some hard classes, and some intense internships. It wouldn’t be a stellar education, but I don’t think it would suck as much as some CCs would have you believe. Mostly it would be your pride that would suffer.

You can also get yourself into a ton of debt over the next four years. But that’s something you don’t want for yourself. Don’t go to UChicago if you can’t pay for it. Debt is not easy to get out of. My mother didn’t finish paying off her college debt for like, ten years, and she tells me it was the hardest thing she’s ever done. Go somewhere else, somewhere affordable, and if it sucks then transfer out and make sure you have more options next time. You didn’t screw yourself over. You just have a tough choice.
