I just realized I talked about the jobs of forensic pathologists while calling them forensic scientists on my essays

Like what the title mentions, I recently found out that for half of my supplemental essays, I explained that I want to become a forensic scientist while explaining the job of a forensic pathologist (which is what I want to do). I don’t know how else to ask this, but am I screwed?

No.

Thank you

I do not think that this is a problem at all. I think that you will be fine.

I will admit that I am not a forensic pathologist. However, my understanding is that a forensic pathologist can certainly be thought of as one form of “scientist”.

The main problem I am concerned about is that I mentioned wanting to participate in autopsies, which is something the pathologist does, instead of the scientist. Do you think it will still be alright?

Yes.

A rectangle may be a square, right? In an analogous relationship, a forensic scientist may be a forensic pathologist. You could have been more precise, but it doesn’t appear that you were inaccurate.

Hello… a pathologist here. It will probably will not make any difference at the undergrad level, but it would be a major issue when you apply to med school.
