I just realized

So after looking at the number of students enrolled at RHIT, I just realized that it has a very small student body! Even some of the smallest liberal arts colleges seem to have 1000 more students. It's not a very small campus, but has a very small number of students. How is this like for anyone who goes there? It actually has about 500-1000 less students than my high school! Why is there such small numbers there? Do they limit the number of freshman? I'm just curious as to why there are not more people there. I really like the idea of so few students by the way.

… RHIT is not THAT small in terms of the number of enrolled students. Caltech, Harvey Mudd, and Olin have much fewer. I mean, the number of incoming freshmen is about right to maintain the small class size. And yes, RHIT does limit the number of freshmen to around 500ish.

I was actually comparing it more to the colleges in the near vicinity of where I live. The colleges around here that I consider to be small have around 3000 students. I don’t know, RHIT just seemed to be miniature in comparison to most of the schools I know. It’s smaller than my high school in number of people! That just really surprised me.

yeah… When I was applying to colleges, I didn’t know there were such places that focus only in undergrads in the US. From hindsight, I would’ve considered more small schools like Rose and other decent Liberal Arts Colleges as opposed to those big well-known schools like UIUC, GaTech, Purdue, etc etc.

True. I’m considering Rose over UIUC for undergrad. I just feel more comfortable there than at UIUC. Even only being to Rose once and UIUC a ton of times. I feel like you don’t need the big name schools for a good education. My sister is proof of that. She went to a little liberal arts college that is only know in the local area and now she has a position at UIUC as a grad student who doesn’t have to pay anything and gets a very generous stipend.
