The title is self-explanatory, I am just looking for confirmation because I've had different sources give different opinions.

definitely not bad (i.e., good). but, if you’re in eighth grade right now, i’d recommend you getting off this site until at LEAST sophomore year. and then only use it sparingly. seriously.

Yeah dude dont worry about it i got like a 1100 my 7th grade and 2290 this junior year. relax man you got a long way before you gotta worry

Only you can know what is good or bad for you. It’s all about what you think you should be scoring. I’m sure some people would be estatic with that score, others may be disappointed. You’ve got to develop a set of personal standards.

1480 puts you approximately at the 50th percentile of all SAT takers. So, basically, you’re doing better than half of the high-schoolers as an 8th grader, which is something to feel good about.

If you took this test for some sort of talent search program (CTY, TIP, etc.) they may publish data regarding their program’s participants’ scores. I could probably find the data for CTY if you’re interested.

Also, the comments above are so true. 8th grade is way too early for CC! When I took the SAT’s in eighth grade, I barely knew what I was doing, didn’t even know that CC existed.

A 1480 for an 8th grader isn’t bad, but not spectacular. Just do well in high school next year and come back to this site as a freshman/sophomore.

It’s definitely not bad as an 8th grader. Chances are, especially with the math section, you’ll improve greatly in high school. So, if you were a senior in high school looking to apply to top colleges, it’d be a bad score. But, as an 8th grader who has years and years to improve, it’s a pretty good place to start. The best preparation you can do for the next few years is to just take the hardest classes you can, challenge yourself, and read for pleasure.

That’s pretty good actually. I remember when I took it in 7th grade I got like a 1500ish, with writing as my lowest. Of course I didn’t know any grammar at all, but still.

It is okay, I took it when I was in 8th grade too, I got a 2400.

who cares? :S
your in 8th grade, get out, enjoy life while it lasts for the next 2 years :)

It’s good. Got around 1550 at around same time, then 2380 in 11th grade. One learns a lot over 3 years.
