hey guys.
I submitted my fafsa three days ago. Apparently for the UC's it was due early March which I was not aware of. I am going to be transfering to the UC's. Will I be losing a lot on aid because I submitted it late?

nope, it doesnt work like that, there is a deadline in june that they then calculate all the money needed with all the funds.

wonderful, thank you for the reply

I was told something entirely different. I too missed the March 2nd deadline for the Cal Grant and was told I wouldn't be receiving anything from that aspect of the FAFSA rewards. Can anyone verify which is correct?

I am not from CA so I do not know the specific policies there. The OP said that he/she submitted the finaid forms TWO MONTHS late. If the deadline for transfer students to submit finaid forms was the beginning of March, I would think that there would be some reduction (at least) of potential finaid. She/he MISSED the deadline (oh...and not by a day...by a LOT). In most cases, a missed deadline puts you at the bottom of the queue...meaning that those who submitted their applications on time will be considered first...and any money left might be awarded to you. If the OP really wants to know...call the school. They will tell you whether you are still in the running for finaid.

I agree with thumper's response. While you would be eligible for federal aid (pell, and stafford loans) other aid (SEOG, and school based aid) is distributed on a first come first served basis so those who apply late are at the bottom of the queue, and this money could be gone.

Sybbie is absolutely correct. The longer you waited, the less money there was waiting for you.

Sam was nice and gave me full tuition (10k). I filed about a week after opening).
