I just want to get my mind off of U of M

I got deferred and it just sucks because I know I am very borderline. So while I am sitting here waiting, I can’t get it off of my mind, so my question turns to you guys…
how do you get the pending admissions off of your mind?

Focus on finishing off your year. In such cases, your senior year grades can potentially make a difference between getting accepted versus getting denied.

I’m with ya! I just wish we had a specific date that we knew we would hear on.
I know it’s “by April 1”, but the decisions are released at different times for deferrals. So yeah, it’s going to be a long few months :slight_smile:

Stay away from CC!

@Straightoutta7

That’s not what a deferral means. At all.

@brantly
I just meant average. My GPA is a 3.86, their average is like a 3.85. Their middle 50% SAT is 1350-Whatever and I got a 1360.

@brantly
I mainly meant I don’t have a really good trait about me that would make them say “yeh this guy” I’m just a guy with an average GPA, average SAT, average activities

I thought you meant borderline getting in / not getting in.

It’s hard to wait.

Did you write a letter of continued interest? If so, I would just focus on finishing your senior year on a strong note.

Netflix!!!

Last year the acceptances started in mid-Feb for deferred EA applicants. Average is good if you are in-state. All of my son’s friends (in-state) were deferred and then accepted with average range stats. Only the above average and legacies were accepted EA. The ones who had mostly B’s in Fall semester were denied.

He wants to get his mind off it!

Personally? And this is no reflection on whether I think you’ll eventually get accepted or not…but I’d do some research into your back-up schools. Find some awesome things about them that will take the sting out of it if UMich falls through. Focus on finding out cool stuff about the places you HAVE been accepted. That way, when it comes time to choose, you’ll have great information…and if you get let down…you’ll already have some reasons to like your new plan.

@MaryGJ thanks for the advice! I’ve already (basically) decided between two schools ( Purdue or Western) and the only thing stopping me from Purdue is the OOS tuition, so basically, if I can get a scholarship there, I’ll probably go there. Unless I get into UMich
