I was not accepted to any other colleges that I had applied to, so waiting on this list is really stressful! I took an AP test this morning and wrote UCSB on it because I felt like I had no other choice. My high school needs to know where I'm going by Friday to post in the graduation programs, and I don't want to be the only valedictorian with a CC next to their name. Yes, I know CC's are not bad, but it just really sucks when you're graduating with honors and the other students are going to places like UCLA and Berkeley.
Now beyond my rant, does anybody have a clue as to when they're releasing the decisions? Or the likeliness of them accepting everyone again this year?

1830 SAT
28 ACT
3.93 GPA
150+ hrs EC's including ASB and community service

It’s actually very hard to know who will be accepted off the waitlist. You have a very high GPA but a low SAT. I’m the exact opposite of you and I was also waitlisted. High SAT but low GPA

I want to get into UCSB too! I guess we will have to find out in a few days

1910 SAT
3.5 GPA

Also I think last year they sent out decisions May 5th. I doubt they will accept everyone again like last year but I really hope they do!

I’m not sure when the decisions will be released, but your GPA is pretty good and your SAT too, 1830, is not bad, and the 28 ACT makes up for it. So i believe f all people you have a really good shot

I called they are definetly not accepting everyone like last year. sorry

As for when they are releasing decision could be next week if at all :/

I assumed that they wouldn’t accept everyone again this year, since last year was due to “mismanagement”. Hearing it confirmed however just makes me want to yell ■■■.

This just adds to my bad day
Do you know if they will be taking anyone at all?

you’ll only have to wait until tomorrow

don’t give up! My friend told me about this article where, since it’s getting harder to get into college, tons of people applied for backups. SB was my backup and many other people’s so once everyone going to other schools, withdraw, it’ll leave room for the ones on the waitlist. Don’t worry about it; besides, you technically only need to go to a CC for a semester and can easily transfer to SB if it doesn’t work out.

I always wonder why people make stuff like this up. How can you “easily transfer” when UCSB only accepts transfers that are juniors? Clearly they’re not writing about their own experience or that of someone they actually know, since what they write is fiction.

To the OP, I hope you get off the wait list. If not, then if you go to a CC then be sure to enroll in the guaranteed transfer program with UCSB. With admissions so tough these days, what a number of people do is go to SBCC and live in Isla Vista.
