Waitlisted at Northwestern, Gtown, Harvard. Just got my 3rd quarter grades and they're very good...no signs of senioritis at all. I'd like to inform these schools of my grades but I'm worried that if I were to send an official transcript my bureaucratic guidance dept would take too long and the schools will have made up their minds by then.

So should I just scan and e-mail them my report card or is that too unprofessional?

If you can scan it, that means you have a hardcopy. I would send each school a hardcopy with a short letter about why you’re proud of your grades. Snail mail may take an extra day or two, but it seems way more professional and formal to me.

Time is of the essence when it comes to college waitlists. Waitlist action has begun at many schools (not sure about yours). I would email the grades directly to your regional (or whomever) contact in the admissions office of each university and I would do it tonight. If nothing else, it shows you are still interested in the school. You can then followup with snail mail.
