You’ll want to improve your test scores if possible. A huge part of the Dartmouth curriculum involves writing so you’ll want to improve the ACT reading score if possible. Aside from that, your valedictorian standing will help since that seems to be emphasized in Dartmouth admissions.

don’t worry too much about the valedictorian thing…it won’t make or break it. my advice would be to try and up your test scores a bit, but i think you have a good chance!

Guys, I know that my ACT score is not very impressive…and, one more thing, I cannot retake this test…actually, there are only two test dates avaiable in our country (oct and dec)…and, that was my first try…

WILL THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE CONSIDER THIS AND BE A LITTLE LIBERAL IF I TELL THEM MY PROBLEM? please feel free to give your response…

Wow you seem like the perfect SAT candidate (no science). Can you take that test? I would never take the ACT. A kid in my high school got a 28 on the ACT and a 2340 on his SAT. He is enjoying his time at Princeton, I hear :)

Wow!! I wish…hahaha…but now, the admission decision won’t change even if I take the SAT (the deadline is OVER!!)…hehehe…anyways, thanks admitone…by the way, where are you applying?

No offense, but how did you manage to get selected for an international physics competition and then lay an egg like that on the science portion of the ACT? I mean, wouldn’t that imply that you were science was a strength?

haha…GOOD QUESTION! (lol…) actually, i got a low score on ACT not because I didn’t know the answers, but because I could not even touch the last two passages…i was pretty slow in the test…

I would absolutely let admissions know there are only two test dates. I took the ACT’s twice, got a 30 the first time, then a 35 the second. And to Admitone, I had the opposite experience: 1980 SAT… 35 ACT sorta laughable

Admissions officers are pretty knowledgeable about different parts of the world. I suggest you find out who your regional counselor is and then let him/her know about the availability of only two test dates. Good luck!

Thanks maelstrom16! I hope that they will understand my problem…Anyways, I am also applying to the following colleges. Please tell me where I have a good chance of getting in…
1.caltech
2.duke
3.rice
4.williams
5.oberlin
6.vassar
7.grinnell
8.whitman
9.gettysburg

You’ll get into Grinnell, Whitman, Gettysburg, Oberlin, and most likely Vassar.
CalTech…hate to tell you but you don’t stand a chance.
Williams and Duke are extremely competitive so those two are up in the air.
Rice is a little less competitive than Williams and Duke and I would say you stand a fairly good chance there.
