I know, i know... chances?

<p>everyone posts one of these, but i really would like to know… D’you think i’ve a chance at Brown?</p>

<p>African/Black female (my parents are both from Nigeria)
lives in VA (dunno if that matters)
my school’s pretty bad, aside from the IB program</p>

<p>GPA: 4.83something weighted.
Class Rank: 4 out of 324
SATI: Taken twice, highest are 800 verbal, 650 math, 750 writing
SATIIs: 790 literature, 750 Biology, 650 (yah, sucks, i knoww…) easier math
AP: 5 in Biology
IB: 5 in Biology, 4 in Math Methods. (i’m a diploma candidate and have been in IB since 6th grade)</p>

<p>Course Load: All IB courses except AP Calculus (i’ve finished the IB math at my school). Pretty much the most rigorous courseload. I’m taking an extra class in Shakespeare and a class at the University of Richmond in Global Economics</p>

<p>Awards:
-IBMYP Certificate
-Harvard Book Recipient
-Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award in Humanities and Social Sciences award from U. of Rochester
-Nat’l Achievement Semifinalist
-Kodak Young Leaders Award
-various school-centric things…</p>

<p>Extracurrics:

  • Forensics Team – Captain, semi-founder (the team had disintegrated at my school, in 10th grade I started it up again!), went to states for Domestic Extemporaneous speaking.
    -Math Honor Society - Vice President (11), President (12)
    -Academic Team – Treasurer, Co-Captain
    -National Honor Society
    -Spanish Honor Society
    -Beta Club
    -Junior Statesmen of America
    -Drama Club
    -Model UN/Congress- Went to the Int’l Model UN in Den Haag last year, topic of my essay… won gavel/best delegate in my committee @ William & Mary model UN this year.
  • Church youth group/choir
    -Teen Advisory board @ my public library-founding member, i also volunteer @ the library a lot.
    -Volunteer @ a local elementary school during the summer
    -work at Coldstone Creamery…summer & about 8 hours a week during school
    -amateur photographer, taught myself to play guitar… </p>

<p>i think i’ve got pretty strong recommendations, and my essay’s alright (if you want to read it, that’d be great…)</p>

<p>So… chances?</p>

<p>Listen dude.......chances are really impossible to predict. Do you have a shot? Of course. Go for it big guy and smile while doing it, they'll like that.</p>
