i've also gone to like 3 info sessions and tours

I applied to the IBE program but i have engineering as my back up

I had worse stats than you, and I got in…and yes I also had a 2 or 3 C’s, and they weren’t even in honors classes. I know the IBE is tougher to get into, so I can’t give you much input there, but you should have a good chance for engineering.

I would bet on you! Your SAT’s and ACT are both in line. Even though you’re not top 10%and your GPA is on their low side your hook is your INTEREST and your LEGACY from your grandfather. I hope you used him to your advantage as Lehigh does accept a large number of ED legacy candidates. Good luck…but WILL you be able to handle the party life?

I was looking at the Penn ED thread today and I’m completely blown away by the stats of the EDers that were both accepted and rejected/deferred. My son got in to Penn without ever visiting the campus beforehand. However, based on what we read in a lot of threads, we sent our child who applied to Lehigh to the campus for a VIEW visit, even though it put a strain on us financially because of the economy and job situation where we live (coming from California).

The “interest” factor that is stressed by Lehigh is definitely a different approach from how other schools do it. Daughter is 100% sold on Lehigh (as wife and I are) and it is agony to get through this weekend until we find something out. You certainly have to take each college on an individual basis these days when applying.

ElectroPennDad…for it’s worth: My oldest at Lehigh has 2 friends attending that are out of California. They are both brilliant, both involved with campus activities and both picked Lehigh over Ivy’s where they were legacies. I would believe the admissions rep handling the CA area would be pushing for your son to the Ad Committee seeing the calibre of students presently attending and especially that he took the time and expense to do the VIEW program. That is INTEREST. I’m not sure how many from CA are admittted annually but it certainly can’t hurt if the rep is on your side. Son’s stats?

Visited Lehigh for VIEW program, talked extensively with alumnus who lives in CA, essays showed excitement about being able to combine engineering and music interests, talked about having to attend many different schools while moving around the country. Also talked about excitement for Lehigh college experience with examples of Lehigh/LaFayette game, etc.

ElectroPennDad: The statistics show Lehigh has 3% of their students coming from CA so your kid should be in real good shape. The class rank is great, the interest factor is great…but the biggest plus is probably the excitement regarding Lafayette. Most students don’t realize that Lehigh encourages their Alumni and Parents to recommend prospective students using some special online form. If the alumni sent in this paperwork it would have given your kid an extra boost…but ED, female, coming from CA and already hating Lafayette before getting accepted is a potent combination. Good Luck!!!

I just got my acceptance letter with slightly lower grades and SATs so NJSoccer is wrong… all around BEST advice is to show as MUCH interest as possible and get lots of supporting letters. Good luck and I really hope you get in!

thanks.
I emailed the admissions office to see if I could be moved from the regular decision pool to the early decision-II pool. do you think that’ll help?

NJSoccer is a jerk. He seems bitter bc he didnt get into his ed school Deehan26 you will get in regular. i’m surprised you didn’t get in ed, what were they thinking? you have amazing stats and you will go somewhere wonderful. best of luck!
