I know it's been asked, but American going to the UK/Ire?

Hi
I'm a junior in high school this year, 11th grade, and I'm looking into schools and such, and I really would like to apply to some schools in the UK and possibly Ireland. I haven't taken any AP exams or the SAT yet (my school wants us to take it as late as possible) but by the end of senior year I'll have had 5 AP classes and a cumulative GPA of about 4.0 weighted, maybe a bit higher. I don't really want to go to somewhere crazy prestigious like Cambridge or Oxford, I was looking at Uni of Edinburgh, Uni of Liverpool, Uni of Glasgow and possibly University College Cork. I would really like to study something to do with linguistics, or languages, and by the end of next year will have had 3 years of german and 5 years of french. I'm also really interested in doing something with the Irish language or Irish studies as a possibility

I understand the tariff points system sort of, but it seems to me that from that I have no chance of getting in even some of the lowest ranked schools over there?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated! :)

How can you be so sure?

Well, as long as your SAT's over 1700 (maybe higher, I don't remember really) you're ok. I know Irish unis have a cut-off score, but it's not that high, you should check it on their websites (don't know about British, but I bet they do too). Plus Irish unis offer aid to US citizens. I would also suggest Sterling (Scotland) and Trinity C (Dublin) (offers Irish studies prog), maybe University College Dublin (Irish studies here)- all these schools are pretty good. Oh, I believe NUI Galway has the ^^ course as well.
Good luck!
