But what is the ACTUAL process that Penn adcoms go through? There MUST be an order, where they read the things, debate, decide…reseach…etc.

What is the order? How many adcoms view it? What do they do?

Someone knows…right?

First the regional rep reads over your app and the apps of students in their region. Then they decide which ones are good candidates.

Next the regional rep sits down with the dean of admissions and a representative from the school that you are applying to (i.e. Wharton, SEAS, SAS, nursing). Then all three decide whether to reject/defer/admit you. However, mainly it is dependant on how strongly the regional rep pushes for you. If he or she really likes you then he or she will advocate for you and you will probably get in.

how do i contact the local representative? How do i get to "know her/he"?
is the only way through penn visits to my city?

does she/he do my interview?

how can i be unique, and make her "like" me?

here is a list of the adcoms. Under their name you can see what regions they manage.

what's a good way to approach them....uh, am I in the "good" pile?? seriously, what should one say?

Quenby Jackson Mott
Associate Dean
New York (the Bronx & Manhattan), Oklahoma, Texas

Why is this person responsible for Oklahoma, Texas, and NY? What's the connection there?
Is this good for applicants from Oklahoma and Texas, or bad?

quenby is awesome. Last year on top of ny, ok, and tx she also handled Az. So I know her fairly well, she is really nice. The way I was able to have a good relationship with her was when she came to visit my h.s. and speak about penn. Since I was one of 5 people that showed up for the meeting we all got to talk to her personally during the presentation. Then I stayed after and talked to her for like 30 minutes. It really matters if they like you or not. When i was admitted with my admissions letter I got a personal note from her saying congrats and asking how my knee was going (when i had seen her I had just had knee surgery).

So really make an effort to get to know your regional reps!

Isn't it a little late now?

What should I ask her?

just read that article in the Christian Science Monitor

..wheres the article?

err... sorry but wat exactly do u mean gettin to noe ur reps? like making a gd impression as with ur interviewer? i dunno, it juz does not seem fair.. maybe it is...??

and wat can u say to them, specially international students?? as many of us have experienced when callin penn they are not exactly v friendly (i am not complainin as i noe thya ahve tonnes of stuff to handle) but still, doe snot exactly make a chit chat session easier.... :p

It's a very old article, but here's the link to the Christian Science Monitor Magazine:

wow.
thanks

I really want to transfer to UPenn in one year. I just found out that the regional admission officer for me (I am a Californian resident) is Quenby Jackson Mott. I see her telephone number, but I prefer to contact her through emails. Can anyone give her email to me?
Thanks.
