Other Accomplishments
You can tell by my senior schedule that I am an IB Diploma student. I am also a People to People Student Ambassador, and I completed IB Middle Years with the Highest Honor and had my Personal Project evaluated in China.

I also will have a letter of recommendation from two Northwestern alumni

Your stats aren’t remarkable to me (and your test scores are a bit low) but your uber-URM status (african AND native-american zomg!) make me feel like they’d all want to take you.

I wouldn’t recommend going with your recommendations unless they know you very well…people often think that alumni recs are good JUST because they are alumni. Also, why would you think NU recommendations would help you get into UPenn.

Also, I’m assuming you being native american is something like you learning you were 1/16th and heard about it round the dinner table?

Your UW GPA is ok, not really in the average among your reaches. And your SAT and ACT are a bit low too. Also, you don’t have calculus into your schedule which is a bit of a turn off for top colleges.

Extra curricular are ok.

I’d say it comes down to you being a URM…but admissions come but once in a lifetime, shoot for the stars.

I would go for the best and apply early. We have the same scores and I have a little better GPA, but I might go to UPenn to run. The coach said my admission was 50/50 so you should try, but don’t expect to be accepted.

Not as LOW as 1/16 Native American, 1/8. My Grandmother is Half Choctaw. And my great grandmother (on my father’s side) is half Cherokee. I really can’t give you perfect math (I got a C!) But that’s more than 1/16 to me.

Let me be frank: Your test scores tell us that you’d have a difficult time (at best) keeping up with the workload at any of your lofty reach schools. Likewise, your GPA is very mediocre and will hurt you come application time. Your soft factors (ECs, URM status) obviously work to your advantage, but I doubt very much that they will mitigate the rest of your record.
