I know that this is a relatively common question, but...

What is the best possible school that I could get in as a match? I know, I know, I'm cringing at this question. I have insomnia and was curious as to what the results would be.

Out of pure laziness, I'll link it back to an earlier post with my info.

I don't really need any more info on the colleges I mentioned in those 2 threads, but I'd like to see where I could also apply to. So basically, I'm looking for the most prestigious undergrad feeders for law schools that I'd be able to get in. Not like safety, but match. Thanks! :)

Anyone? No? Bueller? …Bueller? …Bueller?

Lol hey arroz. I’d stick with Rice. That should be your toughest school.

PS- Nice FB Day Off Reference! :D

Thanks! It’s one of my favorite movies ever.

Rice is a reach. I just wanted to know of more matches.

I’m pretty sure “Rice” was a pun, not a real suggestion.

Not a pun. Lol. On my other posts, I talked frequently about how my dream school is rice. Lol. Hence the username.

OK. I stand corrected.

hahaha well Sikorsky created a double meaning out of it. Let’s just say that was my initial intention ;)

Ohhhhhhhhh hmmmmmmm welllllll: William and Mary (give VA a shot haha), UT Austin, Georgia Tech, Emory, UF, Miami, Michigan, Virginia, Wake Forest, Boston College, and Villanova are all good choices that I’d say are matches for you.

PS I remember UF, Miami, and UVA are on your list. Just thought I’d throw them in again.

Ooh. William and Mary sounds good. I had heard about it, but I had never really looked it up. Those other colleges are all really good too. I’ll narrow it down and see which of those I’ll apply to. Thanks for the advice!

William and Mary is tough out of state, but it’s absolutely beautiful and very rich in history. Likewise, it’s historically one of the most difficult schools in the country. If you’re interested I can fill you in on more, I’ve gone there quite a few times myself for school functions and visiting friends.

I’d personally add W&M and Wake Forest. But that’s just me.

Yeah, I added Wake Forest two days ago when someone else suggested it to me. W&M I’m not too sure about now. If it’s that hard, I’d probably better off spending the app fee elsewhere. BC seems more of a reach, to be honest. Historically, at my school, it hasn’t had too many people accepted, for whatever reason. UT Austin seems to have a good law program, which I like. I like Emory, so I’ll probably also add it. Georgia Tech and Villanova aren’t exactly known for their law programs, though.

Yeah I completely forgot about your interest in law (sorry)! Try W&M, UT Austin, and Richmond (it’s my own bias to say Richmond; however, it has one of the best prelaw/law programs in the country!).

And W&M isn’t a reach for you. I’d say just a high to mid match!

Out of curiosity, what exactly is a high match?

Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk

Ah so a high match is a school that you fit into academically, but are likely going to face some competition for getting a spot during admissions. Say you have a 2040 and a 3.6 GPA; well that’s about (but a little below really) the average at Emory, which means you will have a terrific shot at getting in, but will still face the challenge of competition from other students of similar stature (whereas a person applying to Emory with a 2200 and 4.0 will likely face little adversity). It’s mostly about the percent likelihood of getting in that the person who chances you thinks you have. My rankings go like this:

High Reach- 1-10% (can’t be zero because there’s always that 1 in 1000000000)
Reach- 10-25%
Low Reach- 25-35%
High Match- 35-50%
Match- 50-80%
Low Match- 80-95%
Safety- 95-99% (can’t be 100 because of the same thing as the high reach)

That help?

Really? I feel flattered. I don’t really know how my school stands with W&M because not that many people apply to it, and in the past 4 years, no one has gotten accepted.

Thanks for the chart, arswan! It helps clarify which percentages belong to which category.
