I Know These Grades Aren't That Bad BUT....

I am currently a sophomore in a very competitive public high school. We do weighted GPA only, which would be a 4.51 at the end of this year. I calculated my unweighted to be a 3.91. My parents find my grades to be too low and believe it will keep me out of top business schools like Wharton. SO here they are:

9th
World History CP- A
HN Architecture- A+
HN Biology- A
Gym/Health- A
HN English 1- A-
HN Latin II - A
HN Programming- A
HN Algebra II- A

10th
HN Chemistry - A
Gym/Health- A+
AP Art History- A+
HN Precalculus- A- (ugh, my teacher is the AP Calc BC teacher and he said he makes this class very hard so that we are ready for BC and will be able to do well there)
AP US History- A
AP Statistics -A+
Honors Latin III - A
Honors English II- B+ (literally impossible, best grade on midterm was 92. After 18 point curve, class average was 72. I got an 84)

I know that these grades aren't terrible by most standards (except CC!!) but are they good enough to keep me in contention at top colleges.

My next year’s schedule looks to be:

AP Physics 1
Gym/Health
AP Macroeconomics
AP Calc BC
AP Government
AP Computer Science
Honors Latin IV
AP Lang and Comp

You are fine. Just maintain your grades and get those extracurriculars.

Competitive high school? Those grades must be pretty good then?

How tf do they think those are low grades? They must be trippin.

Yeah. Our school is top 30 in New Jersey. According to the school profile, 3.1% of students get WGPAs from 4.3-4.67. We have about 350 kids in each grade. We normally get 10-20 kids into the Ivies, Duke, Stanford, MIT and Chicago every year. However, a lot of them are lax recruits because our team is top 5 in the country for girls and top 50 for boys.

Well my dad went to Wharton, undergrad and grad and my mom went to NYU dental so they have high expectations.

Well, that means you’re a legacy, right? You’ll be fine. And those grades are too.

Those grades are not bad, and yes, you’ll still be a competitive student.
