I know these threads are annoying, but please helppppp

I am a rising Senior in a very competitive public school in NJ and i'm very interested in attending college and getting a good education. I wanted to know how I stand and what my chances are next year
here we go

Stats:
93 % GPA (3.8 in my hs) - senior year will bring it up
2150 SAT (780 M, 660 CR, 710 W) - retake in october hopefully 2250+
SAT II- 800 Math II, 800 USH, 790 Bio M, 780 Chem - plan to take english lit
AP= all 5's - Chem(10), Bio (11), USH (11), Stat (11)

Senior Year courses
AP Physics - A-
AP Calculus BC - A
AP Economics - A+
AP Art History - A+
English Honors - A+
Photography - A+

EC's
Science Olympiad (10 - 12) - won several awards
Science League (10 - 12) - 2nd state for Bio II at one point
Science Bowl (10 - 12) - Captain (6th state)
Science Honors Program @ Columbia - start this September
Research Experience @ Columbia Neurology Dept - Muscle biochemistry
Brystol Myers Squib Pharma course in summer
FIRST Robotics - (9-12) hopefully captain next year
S County Youth Council - (8-12) President
S County Youth Leadership (11-12)
Peer Leadership (12) - seniors help freshman transition to high school
TREND (11-12) VP

Varsity Track (both winter and spring 10,11,12) - not good enough to be recr.

I want to apply to:
JHU (ED)
Duke
Carnegie Melon
George Washington
Lehigh
UMich (EA)
UVa
UNC (EA)
Rutgers
Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, UPenn, Columbia (only want to apply to 2 of them, but don't know which ones are better for premed)

so where do i stand?? i appreciate any help in narrowing down my list and input on my chances. Thanks a lot

you have a decent chance at all the non-ivies, not so sure for the ivies, except maybe cornell.

i would advise you not to do johns hopkins undergrad for pre-med. from what ive heard it is too grad school oriented.

thanks
can u make suggestion as to which ivies i should apply to. i know they are all different, but i like them all. I wouldn't mind going to any of them. i want to know which ones i stand a better chance at.

here's my 2cents:

JHU (ED) - in, unless ur a BME major
Duke - if u get ur desired SAT, then low reach
Carnegie Melon - match
George Washington - in (unless 7 year program)
Lehigh - in (unless 7 year program)
UMich (EA) - low reach
UVa - low reach
UNC (EA) - low reach
Rutgers - in

good luck

oh, u should apply to Brown and Columbia (b/c u have a history there). Cornell is too cold, UPenn's standards are lowering (except for wharton) + its becoming more dangerous.

what would be my chances at the ivies?

bump bump bump

You have a pretty nice application overall with an enviable science background. I think you should apply to Columbia ED b/c they favor candidates who attend their SHP (plus you did research there!).

JHU (ED) - Match/High Match; Low Reach (RD)
Duke - Low Reach
Carnegie Melon - High Match
George Washington - Safety
Lehigh - Match
UMich (EA) - it's rolling technically; High Match
UVa - High Match
UNC (EA) - Match/High Match
Rutgers - Safety

Overall, very solid chances. I think you should also consider Cornell since you'd probably get in there. Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/539705-yo-chance-dis-indian-kid.html

bump...anybody else?

GW and Michigan are matches.. Oherwise I agree. All ivies are reaches..

cool, thanks for the comments
anybody else

I really dont see the point in taking english lit. Colleges at max generally only consider your top 3 SAT IIs, not to mention that the high cheating prevalence and absurd percentiles only seem to confirm the fact that SAT IIs are not very useful in the admissions process.

Unlike a lot of CCers I think your science orientation is evident on face which will help you tremendously with science oriented programs. Your SAT reading must go up, 780 -> 800 isnt really an important jump. As of now the 1440 is kind of misleading because of your high math score. As of now

JHU (ED) - reach (could be a huge reach depending on specific major)
Duke - low reach
Carnegie Melon - Match
George Washington - Safety
Lehigh - Match
UMich (EA) - safety
UVa - Match
UNC (EA) - Match
Rutgers - Safety

hey thanks
but i thought that JHU ED had a pretty high acceptance rate??

bump = a plea to chance me

ECs are good, not incredible, but they have a sort of trend to them. I feel like JHU and Duke would that list appealing.

Your academics are decent. 3.8 and 2150 is a bit low for Duke/JHU/Ivies. However, your SAT II's look great, and can help your GPA by making your classes look harder. A good senior mid-year report will help but while you seem intelligent you don't look too great on paper for your reaches. 4 5's is very good for the schools you're looking at.

I'd apply to Cornell, and probably Columbia SEAS.

JHU - 50%
Duke - 30%
Cornell - 50%
Columbia SEAS - 25%

I'd appreciate a chance back.

i definately took dartmouth out of my list
i need to narrow Columbia, Cornell, Upenn, and Brown down

JHU (ED) low reach/high match probably a good chance of getting in
Duke low reach
Carnegie Melon Match
George Washington super duper safety away
Lehigh match
UMich (EA) match
UVa match
UNC (EA) match
Rutgers safety
Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, UPenn, Columbia (only want to apply to 2 of them, but don't know which ones are better for premed) 25-33% chance of getting in

JHU (ED) low reach
Duke low reach
CMU match
GW match/safety (I know a friend w/ similar stats who was waitlisted b/c of competitive senior class...you have a bit more going for you though)
Lehigh match
UMich(EA) match
UVA match
UNC (EA) low reach
Rutgers safety
For premed you should probably apply to Brown, Cornell, and Columbia.

Have great ECs and essay and I'd say you stand a great chance for your schools.

thanks,
i wouldn't mind some recs to good school for premed

JHU will provide you the best opportunities since research opportunities are so readily available for anyone who wants to help out. It's also right next to a hospital that provides shadowing and volunteer opportunities!

I think I read somewhere on JHU's website that 60% of people doing premeds requisites do research. From what friends going to JHU tell me research opportunities there are very available and volunteering/shadowing is really easy.

If you don't get in though, any college will suffice as long as it doesn't have a reputation for huge grade inflation and easy courses.
