Looking for an honest chance! I know my scores are low, but I have great recommendations and my essay is written very well. I’ve had it read by many people and corrected many times. I also participated in the Columbia HSP, and received a recommendation from my professor. Is Barnard strictly score driven? I’m working hard on the short answers and I have great recs coming. I’ve visited the school as well. Here are my stats!

If anyone here (these are high school students, some Barnard students and parents!!!) was to say “YES, those scores are a huge issue!!!”, what would you do? Not apply??

Mind you, I am NOT saying that to you. Rather, I want you to understand that scores are scores. It’s my impression that Barnard does a great job of looking beyond numbers and does consider other factors. They are pretty “selective”, but I know of no “cut off” number, and neither does anyone else here. It seems you have given it your best shot…best to you!!

I agree with shimmer…your chances look about 50/50 I obviously don’t know for sure because I’m not the admissions officer, just an eager applicant like you, but I think you will be fine if your SAT scores are a bit lower than the median. I mean, it looks like you have good grades and have taken a rigorous courseload. Barnard isn’t a “numbers” school and will probably take that into account more so than your SAT scores. I’ve also heard from some people that they read the essay first, so they do put a lot of emphasis on that which could work in your favor. Best of luck!!!

I’ve jut ben accepted early. You may have a chance. Barnard takes a look at your essays before your scores, so make sure you polish those to perfection. :)
