I just submitted all of my materials today! I'm from Long Island, NY, 3.7 W, 27 ACT, honors/APs, extenuating circumstances, ECs (Senior Advisor/Tutor for school Writing Center, lots of music involvement, secretary for ASL Club, part-time job), and excellent essays/recs. :) I did a visit and a regional interview. Clark is one of my top choices as well as matches along with Hampshire College.

How was your visit? I applied but im not sure if i’ll get in

I liked my visit a lot. The tour guide was new to the job, but he did an excellent job. Very helpful and sincere. The dorms were meh, but some of the buildings were really beautiful. The surrounding area leaves much to be desired; it’s one of the worse areas of Worcester, but some people have told me they grow fond of it. There’s apparently a lot of culture and the school gets very involved with helping the community. I also did Coffee with a Clarkie; I spoke to a senior studying English with a concentration in Holocaust Studies. She was very informative and enjoyable to talk to.

Which dorm did you visit? Many of the dorms are very different, and I LOVE mine! If you visited on a Thursday you may have seen my room!

Also, if anyone has any questions I’d be happy to answer!

I wish I remembered! I know one girl who’s in the dorm from my high school though. And I visited on a Wednesday in September. I just re-took my ACT, and I went down in everything except English (+5 points, now at a 32). I called Clark Admissions and they said they superscore the ACT, so I’ll be sending both since superscored is a 28. I’m going in as an English major, so I think a 32 on English and Reading looks pretty good in light of my 24/25 on Math and Science.

So you probably visited my friend’s room in Bullock! My dorm has rooms that are more than 1 and a half times bigger than those, and you can rearrange however you want! You have lots of options.

Also, Clark is now SAT/ACT optional, so your scores won’t hurt you much if they aren’t as good as you would like them to be.

I applied Early as well and Clark is my very top choice. I visited the campus and Worcester couple times and I am absolutely in love ! I am applying from France and I know they love international students ! I guess we’ll all have to wait 4 more weeks for the decision letters !

Less than three weeks now! ^_^

This is killing me though !
What are your other choices ?

Hampshire College, Sarah Lawrence, Bard, Fordham, Pace, New Paltz, Binghamton, Geneseo You?

Awkwardcreations, it seems most people I’ve talked to that are applying to Clark are considering smaller colleges as opposed to big ones. What’s your reason for choosing those?

I am applying to Trinity College, Smith, Worcester State, Tufts, Colby, Framingham State, University of Bridgeport, University of the Pacific, Boston University. Well, only if I don’t get into Clark EA !

I am dying to hear from Clark. Do you know what day in December they’ll release decisions. Do they release these decisions on line or by snail mail? They don’t call, do they?

What do you like about Clark and what is your major?

wstlfb8: It’s always been a gut feeling. It was confirmed when I visited Stony Brook and saw how huge it was–granted, it’s more or less a suitcase school. But, I felt more comfortable at schools like Clark, Hampshire, New Paltz, etc. The access and personal attention from professors seems superior at smaller schools, especially in wanting to pursue or gain experience with research. I’d rather have a tighter-knit community, but still enough people that there will always be someone I don’t know. My school is around the same size as Clark, and though I think it’s too big for a high school, I think the amount of people would be perfect for a university.

Elise303, they say December 15th but my interviewer said it’s often earlier; last year it was November 9. We got an e-mail notification and can view the decision on the Clark account you get after applying. I love the strong academics, opportunities to pursue undergrad research, the fact that it is the smallest liberal arts research university, so I can get the small LAC experience but plenty of research opportunities.

I’m interested in a lot of interdisciplinary topics, but if I went to Clark I think I would do a major in English and a minor in Psychology. I’m also very interested in Gender Studies and Philosophy; I would definitely look into their self-designed major if accepted. I don’t know how ample the resources for that are compared to a school that actually specializes in it. How about you?

I’m a biochemistry major, for pre-vet.

I love lots of things about Clark, but I’ll try to explain it briefly. I love how we have baking parties in my dorm, so everyone gets free desserts all the time. I love how we have a week-long game of humans vs zombies, with people running around with nerf guns all over campus. I love how I haven’t met a single person here who I would try to avoid. And I love all of my classes, and how I actually know my teachers and they know me too.

I know it’s cliche, every school says it, but I’ve visited a lot of schools, and I really believe Clark is different in that EVERYONE who goes here is just really friendly, and there are kinds of people to be friends with for EVERY kind of cool, quirky, or weird person.

Any other questions, feel free to ask.

Sorry for the double post, there was an error when I posted the first time

Everytime I visited, I really liked the atmosphere and I knew right away Clark was the right choice. I plan to major either in Foreign Languages or International Relations. And yeah, Clarkies told the school releases decisions a bit early every year so hopefully it is a matter of days now !

Also, last year we were notified online on December 15, which was when they said we would be notified. Not earlier.
