hey guys im new to CC and just want to say hi =]

no but seriously i was wondering about some transfer options, ill try to keep it short

I go to Vanderbilt University (I know its a great school and all) and got a nice package from them but quite frankly I just dont like it here and hence, the need to transfer.

Problem is...I didnt do so hot 1st semester
GPA:3.01
basically got B's, with a 3hr b- and a 5hr b+
Currently: holding steady at 3.9~4.0 but who knows...may drop post-finals haha
Im involved in a few clubs and groups but nothing huge and ill admit im close with only 1 of my profs.
SAT:1490 700M/790V
SAT II's: 700 writing, 750 World History, 760 Literature

I was wondering if you guys could help me with some reachable options for transfer. Im planning to try to transfer after the 1st semester of my soph. yr.
I was thinking about maybe BC, NYU, UofChicago ( I know...alot tougher to transfer), WashU (same deal..), Georgetown (yea..alot tougher), Duke (yea yea :P) places like that...this is assuming i get a 3.9~4.0 this semester and balance this gpa to around a 3.5

If you do manage to raise up your GPA to 3.5, then you are in @ NYU at least. The others are tough to say, but your SAT I,SAT II scores look good...

Are you talking about Wash U (in St Luis?)...you might have a good chance here.

I believe both WashU and Georgetown both had higher acceptance rates for transfers than for freshman last year.

Also, someone posted earlier on this board that someone from Georgetown said that a lot of their transfer applicants aren't even considered competitive. Now I'm not sure how much "a lot" is in this instance, but I mean, Vanderbilt is a great school, and if you do well this semster, I'm sure you have a chance at these other schools. Be involved and hold the good grades this semster.

You could argue that Georgetown and U of Chicago are also both better than Vanderbilt. But it's dependent on what program you are interested in and what kind of atmosphere you want. I mean every school he mentioned, including the one he is currently attending are great schools.

no doubt its a great school and the people here are very friendly, but oh i dunno, im not sure its a good fit for me. Its a very homogenous culture, and for those who fit in, great and even for those who dont, one can find their niche but I just need to experience new things. Also the city doesnt offer alot, to me atleast. Keep in mind everyone is different, but im thinking maybe a city like Boston, or NYC, or DC, or even StL could offer me more.
