It makes me worry, because this person is ranting about Haverford and since their relationship is close to Bryn Mawr, are Bryn Mawr students “rich kids who have no ethics or morals”? Also, this person mentioned that people there are “narrow minded” and that they are RACIST.

The racism part really bothers me… can you confirm these beliefs?

umm bryn mawr is definitely not a school full of rich kids and no morals, and i dont feel that haverford is either. i dont think ive ever gone to such a diverse, quirky school in my life. haverford might slightly differ because theres a lot of guys. not to say guys are unethical and all that...but people who choose to go to all-women's colleges are definitely different from the mainstream and not really into what is "popular" and what is politically correct. having been here for a year, i can tell you that bryn mawr is definitely NOT racist, ive actually not seen or experienced anything that made me uncomfortable as a minority all year. the campus is very aware, and if anyone says something out of line about race, gender, beliefs, etc there is always someone else who calls them out on it. im obviously not as in on haverfords campus 24/7, but i take a class there and am friends with people there, and from what i can see, its student body is very similar to ours. they party more and stuff, but when it comes down to it everyones very tolerant, speaks their mind, and takes stands against racism, narrow-mindedness, and unethicial actions. thats one of the things that really surprised me when i came to bryn mawr and got familiar with haverford. it is one of the most tolerant campuses ive ever visited.

i'm sure whoever wrote that had his reasons, but i don't think haverford is a bad place at all. i actually really like it there (i'm a bmc freshman), and i haven't met anyone there racist or having no morals. my haverfriends, granted are more male than female, are really great people. i really don't think the vast majority of people are narrow minded here or there, and on both campuses you've got your share of interesting, super quirky people and it all works out. don't worry:), you'll love the bico.

CA_Girl, my D is a sophmore minority student at Bryn Mawr and has never experienced any of the negatives about which you've expressed concern. I assure you that Haverford's reputation at Bryn Mawr is not that of, a "rich kids' school full of racists". If anything, it is just the opposite. It's a laid back school full of quirky individualists who are, by and large, friendly and easy-going. Have you yet had an opportunity to visit either school for an overnight visit? I highly recommend that you check them out for yourself, if you still have concerns.

I wouldn't put much credence in the anti-Haverford smear either. You will find the occasional disgruntled miserable student at any college and they tend to post at places like College Confidential and other student rating type sites to justify their unhappiness.

Of the three elite Phila. LACs, Haverford is probably the more "preppy" school, by a slight margin. But, we are talking small distinctions. By a national standard, Haverford would not be considered to be an intensely preppy school.
