Yeah Chaos that'd be cool!

Sarcasm... Whoosh over your head.

Don't worry. You'll get more and more cynical with each passing day on CC.

:P NO but seriously they maybe should make a middle school one. I don 't think they need an elementary one.

But how many middle schoolers would come? Honestly, it isn't healthy for 6th graders to fret over ECs, because middle school has no standing and doesn't matter in admissions.

Blame it on the colleges. Parents send kids to boarding schools to prepare for college admission when they are in 8 grades. Why this 8th grader cannot talk about college?

8th grade is supposed to be the best year of your life.
Live it up. It's your last year of freedom before you have to worry about AP and IB. Have fun, what you do in this year doesn't really matter for college apps, anyway.
& Trust me, you are gonna change so much as a person before its time to start applying for colleges. So keep an open mind.

If I could redo middle school, I just wouldn't even try since it doesn't count for anything.

And....when middle schoolers come on this website, I have it say, it slightly ****es me off. It's kind of messed up that middle schoolers are on here talking about "where they're applying to" in the first place.

lbso you sound perfect for a future ccer :D

Future CCer? What do you mean? Aren't I one already? :D

Geez why's everyone getting so mad at me just because I'm not in High school yet and I want to get into a good college? Does it really matter what age you are to be on here.

No it doesn't matter. But you don't HAVE to be worried about it yet. Your grades in 8th grade won't matter at all for college. And honestly freshman year doesn't matter that much either. I know people who almost failed freshman year and are now in honors classes 10th grade and I'm sure will get into fairly good schools. So we're just saying you don't need to be talking about it yet. I'm in 10th and I still don't know where I'm going to apply, you don't send apps till senior year.

^Ditto cliche. Why worry now? You'll only end up bitter.

We are "mad at you" (not really) because it isn't healthy for you to be so prestige-driven at such a young age. Maybe you are the exception to the rule (highly doubtful), but there is no eighth grader who really knows anything about Harvard or the Ivy League other than their name. The same holds true mind you for high school seniors as well, but at least they can pretend like they know something.

Technically, the prep school forums are mostly for middle schoolers. However, there are a few high school students who switch high schools to a private or boarding school.

hey im an eighth grader, too. feel free to pm me.

& everyone who says 8th grade doesn't count as anything, i have a question...

I have this huge math project and i'm so frustrated and stressed about it that i've been doing and i'm a perfectionist and it just isn't going well. Should I give up? i'm extremely ticked and cranky right now and i just don't even care about it right now. It's driving my life insane...

Well, do what you can. Just because 8th grade doesn't count for anything doesn't mean you should crap out of a project.

What's it about?

it's a stock project that's driving me bozonko!!

janemac, absolutely not. Do not give up on your school work because it "doesn't matter."

The people who posted that 8th grade doesn't matter for college admissions are absolutely correct. At the surface level, colleges don't care about what you did or didn't do in middle school.

However, I must ask the question, why do you want to go to college? If you only want to go to college to make money, there are many very high-paying jobs that don't require a college education. If you are going to college because you want to learn, then you should remember that you are also in middle school and high school to learn as well. Do your work.

lol, anyone remember last year with chaostheory and masterus, the two know it alls who swore they would conquer high school....this OP seems the same way, live and learn, high school is a giant slap in the face for many.

Everyone at my school says 8th grade doesn't count but technically it kind of does because it decides what kind of classes you have in 9th grade...

Anyway...

What math are you in Jane? I think I may be able to help... Possibly. I get annoyed with math too.
